I just thought some may like to know the Berger Hybrid 140gr 6.5mm bullets expand well at 700 yards when impacting wet clay.. I recovered 3 bullets shot at 700yds. two days ago and all kept their cores except one trying to spit it out.. I understand wet clay would be a little hard for a test medium but I'm still impressed they expanded at that range as much as they did.. I've tested these in water backed by card board at 100yds. with good results as well. Some may say they don't hold enough mass after expanding but with side to side shots not impacting shoulder blades they should deliver dramatic shock to the central nervous system.. I wished Berger would come out with a bonded version or a solid copper based version like the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw or the new Marine fielded 5.56mm round.. From what I've seen hunting deer solid copper based bullets (lower portion of the jacket being solid copper) perform awesome as realized by the military using it for the copper bases ability to keep penetration going after expansion.. I also downed a small hog last year after being hit slightly in the shoulder blade.. He went down like a brick but after 10 sec. or so woke back up and started kicking in a circle.. He never got back up though.. After inspection I saw the bullet didn't exit.. I'm guessing it exploded like a mini grenade in their from what I've seen in water backed by card board.. I gave the hog away so never recovered the bullet..
