Berger 25 Cal 135gr LR Hybrid - Anybody get them to shoot?

I'm curious to know if many/any people have got these to shoot...like really shoot? Like 1/3 MOA out to distance under ideal conditions?

I don't know why they wouldn't/couldn't perform as well as the 6mm and/or 6.5 variants but I've not heard, or seen, much good from these bullets. I'm using a 25x47L to launch these projectiles, with H4350 and neck turned cases. My limited experience has not been great. Out of a top tier Heavy Bench gun, with new Krieger barrel, they sure like to spit out a lot of 1" groups at 100, with a couple 1/2" groups in the mix...not a good sign (I'd normally expect to see the bad/ugly groups at 1/2" and the good ones .25" or better). I haven't taken out to distance yet because I haven't found anything that justifies doing so, albeit I've only taken this barrel to the range a couple times.

I fear/suspect, something with this quarter bore and this bullet just isn't clicking...

RAG- I'll post here instead of continuing our PM conversations so any info is available to all. I'm sighting in a new scope on my rig on Friday then I will start working up the Bergers in the next few weeks. If you have any Varget try that. I would start down around 35.5-36. So far for me the ACE is shooting better but I have not done the full workup on the Bergers.

Two friends that are very good loaders abandoned them. Lots of split groups. One 25 creed and one 25x47.

I have a third friend starting on them tomorrow.

I’ve been researching them a lot, thinking I’d have a 25 GT built for hunting, but so far I haven’t gotten any good reports from the wolf pack.

Can you give your ballpark load and jump/jam? Thanks

With the weight & BC of the 135s, i don't know that 100 yards would let the bullet shine to it's full potential.

Shoot them at 600 yards & you may see the difference over lighter bullets.
Or right...yes, I did. I shot at 600 yards exactly in fact...I was just keeping things concise. My plan is to use this rig/bullet for prairie dogs at long range...and for the extremely windy days at mid-range...but I was sure hoping for a lot better accuracy than I've seen (and heard from others).

Thanks

Have a friend shooting them in a 25 creed, seems to really like them.
Interesting. Happy...in that he's getting groups in the .3 and .4 MOA ballpark at middle distances (600 yards)...or happy with 3/4 MOA, ha. I've seen a lot of people pleased with 3/4 or even 1 MOA on forums...which I suppose is okay for a 6 lb walk-around rifle...but of course not a BR rig.

Thanks!

Given my intended purpose, I may also try the Berger 133 hunting bullet with (supposedly) thinner jacket. And if happily shoot the 131 Ace,,, but same story in that I haven't heard of anyone obtaining benchrest accuracy, or anywhere close, with these bullets either.

Built a 25 Creed for my brother last year. We started out with the 131s that shot fantastic. We switched to the 135 a month or so back because the 131s cant be found. The 135s are far less consistent thus far.

I'm experimenting with some different powder's with the 25 CM that I recently built since I use H4350 in several other rifles. Results weren't great with RL16, but it shows promise with AA 4350. Have a couple loads that shoot in the .3" range at 100.
It's been too HOT to even think about shooting around here lately, so I haven't tried anything else.

I'd take .3". I haven't been able to achieve that yet however with the 135 Bergers. I've only tried AA2700 and H4350, and really haven't done a ton of testing yet.

Interesting. Regarding the 131, I hadn't seen or heard a bunch of great stuff on that one either...I assume you're referring to the ACE?

is your barrel twist a 7 ? Berger suggests using an 8 - but I am thinking that is over doing the spin….

Mine is 1:7.5

But you're right...something gives here. Why is it proving so hard to make these things shoot good...best I can tell, there simply haven't been many report of stellar accuracy, and certainly no reports of sufficient accuracy to take to benchrest competition despite the wind-defying BC.

lot of accounts of not being able to get them to shoot...only a few otherwise. But, maybe driving a 1-9 or 1-10 would work.

I was kinda wondering if I got a bummer of a barrel maybe (Krieger), but thinking that's not the case. Event tough my twist is too fast, I sure wish there were some 110 BIB bullets around I could test.

1n9 twist MCgowen won't work..I tried".257 Robert's ackley
1n8.5 twist Brux won't work either.. In .25 grendel.

Just stick to berger 115's
