Berger 208 LRHT vs 215 Hybrid in a larger (300 WM + case)

I read the discussion of using these in a 308.

I Am curious if anyone has experimented or compared the new 208's with the 215's in a 300 WM or similar case at extended ranges ? I just purchased a box of the 208's because nothing else was in stock, but normally use the 210VLD's in my hunting rifle.

The 215s and the 230s seem to kinda have the span of weight differences covered. I wouldn’t imagine they will phase out the 215s either based on their popularity. The only reason for maybe going with the 208s or 220s is maybe availability. Because there are so many people shooting the 215s it may make the others a little easier to get ahold of. The b.c. Is so close and the weight I don’t see much improvement Or decline with any of them over the 215.

I think this is a similar issue with the new 6.5mm 144gr LRHT and similar new bullets.
They are just merchandising for the sake of it.
Flooding the market with an array of bullet weights and styles trying to corner the market or something.
I understand they are there to make money, but as it is now they can’t keep up with demand now anyway...so why market new stuff that won’t see shelves in who knows how long.
What can a 208gr bullet do that a 210gr or 215gr bullet can’t do?

The 208 was introduced for the F-TR competition shooters. It represents a BC improvement over the 200-20X at speeds that are achievable from a 308 in a 30" barrel. On paper the 208 seems to be able to provide some ballistic advantage in 1000 yrd shooting. It has a better BC than the 210, and less recoil than the 215.

In that game the 215 has had successes but a lot of people can't manage the recoil and maintain the precision needed to win.

At this point I don't think we know whether or not it will become a success there and displace the 200-20x as the main bullets of choice for F-TR (figure close to 90% of competitive F-TR shooters use it). The 208 was only released about a yr ago.

When you figure compeditive FTR shooters buy bullets 2000- 4000 at a time for a yrs competition if it works for that application it will be a winner.

Will get to that probably next month. Took barrel off to start load work on 6BRA. I’ll post results and thoughts

Been shooting 215s with a stiff dose of H1000 in a 28" Bartlein barreled 30 Nosler for 3 years. Exceptional 0.3 to 0.4 MOA accuracy to 800yds. They are elk killing machines.
