Bent rims after sizing

Having an issue with resizing 7-300win mag. ADG brass, the brass has been fired twice, and I went from using lanolin/alcohol mix on cases for lube to hornady one shot. I know some don’t like it, but it’s worked great for all my other cartridges. At any rate, I applied it like I normally do, and immediately had the first case stick. I pressed it out, cleaned everything, reapplied one shot inside the die and a bit more on the cases just for good measure. Some were still very sticky, but overall not terrible. However, after sizing 80 cases, about 60% of the rims are bent from pulling the cases out of the die. Has anyone seen this before? The only way I can prevent it is by applying so much case lube that it dents the case body.

When you apply one shot you have to wait for it to dry. I would wait 20-30 minutes before using it because I was getting the same results as you(bent rims ). I use the lanolin mixture and wait on it to dry but I don’t have the bent rims or sticking cases. The best I have and still use is Imperial Sizing Wax from Redding. You might like the One Shot but I don’t care for it. Would rather use the Imperial Sizing Wax or large quantities of brass the Lanolin Mixture.
Also, clean your die before each use with brake cleaner or carburetor spray. Then I will spray the die with Lanolin or the Imperial the die with a Qtip.

Clean die. Lube inside will be pushed up to the shoulder when sizing and cause your dents.
Lube body of case and try to keep it off the shoulder or wipe the shoulder.
Try to size without the expander (if you are using one) to be sure it's the body that is sticking.

All I use is Hornady one shot I’ve never stuck a case never had a problem but you must allow time for it to dry it’s just that simple it makes a big difference

When you raise the press handle are you just placing constant pressure to raise it or are you jerking up on the handle to start it moving ? Saw this happening with a friend of mine in the past.

Read the instructions on the One-Shot Case Lube bottle.

Stand cases UPWARD and spray them from all 4 directions on a 45 degree downward angle, 8" to 10" inches away from the cases. let stand for 5 minutes and size.

Sounds like you didn't lube inside the case necks (if you're using a die with expander button), or just not enough lube.

To bend those heavy rims you must be lifting the bench off the ground or jerking the handle like Bill mentioned. There’s multiple wrong ways but only one right way to use one shot and several have already mentioned it. Nice tutorial and unique method Zero333!…
One other thing to check are you sure you have the correct shell holder in your press?…

I use one shot case lube, I clean the die with one shot gun cleaner and lube. If any other lube gets in the die you can get sticky cases. I universal decap, spay in zip lock bag and shake. Dump into cardboard flat(drying) I keep just for One shot lubed cases. I do wash the cases(no pins) after decapping if they have hit the ground, or been through a suppressed AR.

Bending the rims is impressive.
I’ve seen rims torn up. There has been a few times (in The last 1/2 century) I’ve started a case and it didn’t feel right so I stop, just to double check that I lubed the case etc.
Wayne is right with checking the shell holder.
I use RCBS pad with their lube. I have no idea how other lubes work as this is all I’ve ever used. I don’t think my first tube was marked #2 but that’s a long time ago.

I never thought to do this, this way.

I will on my next load of brass.

I apply the lube in much the same way as Zero333, I stand them in a reloading tray neck up and spray down from 45° and rotate the tray while doing so. I wait around a minute or so to start sizing.

I wiped the die clean but it is possible some lanolin is still in there. The main reason I left the lanolin behind is because it left quite a bit of tack behind that I didn’t like on my cases.

There are some cases that sized very smoothly, but others more difficult. I always try to apply even pressure through the stroke to remove my cases, but these were harder than usual, but not as hard as I have with some other cases.

I also thought perhaps the shell holder was wrong and slightly oversized, but it is a hornady #5, the correct size.

I haven’t stuck a case in years, since I started using Imperial sizing wax. One tin will do thousands of cases. I gave my last few cans of One Shot away. I’ll never use that stuff again. Besides.....it’s expensive!

Ha,
I use the tube Lee lube. Dab on left index finger. Pick up case, Touch body, swirl down the body, none of the shoulder, put case on press, size.
Using body only die, and after about 50 move to collet neck die.
One dab does maybe 15-20 cases. Goes pretty fast one at a time using turret as single stage.
Only stuck case was with one shot (I must have used it wrong) and broke the frame on a cheap aluminum Lee press. Snapped right off. They sent me another that I use as a stand for a powder measure.
