Bench Rest Scope

I have recently been using a Sightron SIII 10-50X60 LRTD scope for ARA RFBR. Today at a match I was having a problem with my rifle. The match director noticed and offered me to shoot his rifle which has a NF 15-55X52 Competition scope. The first thing I noticed was my scope has a much larger eye box, in other words it is easier to get on target. I was able to do fairly well with his rifle, which meant I was able to score rather than get 0’s. Our club has some great people. Oh, feel I should mention that the NF is about twice the money of the Sightron.

While I use (2) 10-50x60s and a 12-42 on my CF and RF rifles, I can only use full power about 1/2 time due to mirage, etc. That's also why I parted with the 45x fixed scopes.
Next I think I'll step down to Using ~12x so I see the flags at all times.
UMMV

Regardless whether you shoot 50-100-200 yards, the Nightforce 42X is the best I have found because of clarity and weight. This scope is discontinued, but they are out there to be found. I use both DOT and FCH. Good luck finding one !!

At 100 yards it's hard enough to even find the target let alone the bullseye. 24X is the max for me at 100 yds. I'm not using a secure rifle rest, only a front sandbag, so dialing it in to a securely held position only shows me that the rife shoots, but says nothing about the shooter.

Tough time responding tonight as Xfinity flickers on and off like an antique light bulb. No TV,just internet but they're charging me $130 per month for their crappy service.

Competing in both 50 and 100 yard Benchrest and RF F-Class I have found my Walther with a Weaver T-36 to be more than adequate. I have also had good results with the Muller 40X on my CZ's. I also have a Sightron 10X50 on my new Annie which I am hoping to use soon.
what is model; # of your Walther ?

Budgets are always a factor and when I shot my first benchrest match in the mid-80's, I used as $99.00 3x9 Leupold hunting scope with a reticle that more than covered the target. Hey - we (usually) use what we can afford. Since then, I have swapped out scopes so many times, I doubt I could retrace what all I have had. Currently, all of my bench rest center fire rifles have either Nightforce Competition or NXS scopes on them in the higher power ranges (40x min. on max setting) My .22 Rimfire has a March with high setting of 80X - which is the power set when I shoot it. I have some of these same Nightforce scopes on my varmint rifles, but also a lot of Sightron SIII scopes in the higher power ranges. If I could not afford (or didn't want to pay the price) of the Nightforce scopes, I'd probably use the Sightron scopes at half the price. Personally, if I couldn't afford one of those, I'd save up (or sell the kid) before buying a lesser scope for benchrest. If I could have bought the scopes I have now the first time around (which I couldn't), I'd have saved more than enough to buy a decent car.
