BR 22lr rifle recommendations ?

A few years back local guys started an informal match on Friday nights shooting from bags out a barn window @ 30 yds, everyone has to shoot from the same cheap bags one shot cold bore at small bullseye targets, 3.00 per round.

It started with whatever guys could drum up to shoot but over the years the guns migrated from 10-22s, Marlins and such to Annies, 40Xs, 52s and the like, it's funny how much a man will spend to win a few dollars on Friday night.

For a while I won my share with a custom barreled 10-22 (threaded barrel and receiver) against some pretty high dollar rigs, a few weeks back I dropped in and all of the good ole boys shooting dads 541s and such have evaporated.

Lined up on the wall was 5-7 Annies and 5 VooDoos, all wearing some serious glass with lots of high dollar ammo sitting around, funny how guys get serious when it comes to a few dollars and bragging rights.

Finishing last sucks big goose eggs. LOL

Scott, fortunately we have a very active RF shooter group in our club. We shoot both iron sights and scopes. We could add a factory class if enough guys ask for it.
Butch, if you were to start ARA Factory, you would see a lot of CZ's and Tika's coming on strong, most likely. I will be co-match directing a club in Iowa this coming season. We shoot ARA UL, but not the Factory Class. The previous MD had started an 'informal' match comprised of three classes, Vintage, Sporter, and Semi-Auto which are all shot concurrently. Very few rules. No flat bottom BR stocks, no barrel tuners, and you can shoot any type rest. We don't have the space to shoot Factory ARA and ARA UL together (only 10 benches) without doing relays. The informal matches are shot before the sanctioned match. The club only allows so much time to be blocked from the membership using the range and going relays can cause issues, especially 3 relays. The guys shooting informal are an important part of the revenue generated for the club from RFBR and we would loose many of them by going to Factory ARA. If you have the interest and support for Factory ARA at your club, then by all means go for it. For our club, it's just not a good fit considering the size and time restraints we have and the fact many of the rifles being shot in informal would not be legal in ARA Factory.

Scott, I agree.

The Vudoo single shot is a great action for 22 benchrest. The ability to time the firing pin fall is huge and makes a lot of difference. I still don’t like Vudoo extractor cuts but their actions are starting to show on the winning equipment list.
the older turbos were great actions. The newer turbos that I’ve had, had terrible feeling bolts. Feeding not nearly as smooth as say a 2500 or the Vudoo.

Vudoo isnt coming on strong anywhere. Not sure where you get that info. I've seen 1 in the wild and it had a lot of work done to it. He didn't do well either and this was at the indoor nats. The same guy was asked what action he would recommend for a new shooter and he didn't hesitate to say 2500x. Vudoo has a very long way to go. If you had problems with your Turbo you didn't send it to a good gunsmith then. Both of mine were blueprinted properly and are as smooth as butter. Funny why did vudoo switch from the cresent pin back to a chisel point pin? One of my turbos is cresent and it has zero problems driving the pin to the correct depth and has already shot a ara 2500 its 4th time at a match. Like I said vudoo has a long way to go if they ever get there

IMO the switch was needed to provide consistent ignition. I am puzzled as to why they come with multiple springs, with supposedly such a high-tech design and all I would have thought in R&D they would have found the right combination and that would be it.
I am not an expert but having worked on the 3 generations of Baity Falcon actions, once I found the right spring rate that was it, never needed to switch springs.
almost like buying a high-performance sports car and the salesman tells you try 3 different grades of gas to see which one the car performance the best with! seriously they wouldn't know?

Looking for a 22lr bench rest rifle, what would be your recommendation's ? This would be for club level bench rest matches at 50 to 100 yds.

#1 - Vudoo Newer 3 lug version
#2 Anschutz
#3 CZ - 457 MTR
Just my personal choices as I also shoot 22 LR bench rest matches at 50 Yards .
AND YES _ I believe Ammo is at least if not more important than the shooter
