Belt Dressing for Lathes and Milling machines, what is the best?

Curious if anyone has found a favorite. Common sense says that something beats nothing, but there maybe some exceptional products.

Thanks in advance

Not in my book. I prefer "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Never had an issue with squealing belts on any of my machines that use them (hell, that includes my cars and trucks as well...)

Belt squeal is usually due to tension or pulley misalignment issues. Best to find the source of the problem and repair, rather than band-aid to hide it IMO.

From the historical files;

This belt dressing is from the mid 1930's. Still in use,a little goes a long way wasn't thought up by Brylcreem....they stole it. So much of this sort of vernacular has it's roots in American manufacturing. WITH,firearms being one,if not THE most important driver.

1910, American* disc/drum sander,the disc isn't on at the moment(was dinkin with a pneumatic sleeve on it) but utilizes the Talisman,works like magic when it is. Holds paper to disc..... reuse almost indefinitely. It's semi heat activated. Brilliant product,the heavier the "action" or slippage,the more it grips.

*American Wood Working. Although this one predates that co a few years when they were still,American Sawmill co.

Ackley,give "Baltimore Belting" a call. They might have a website but,uhhhh.... that sorta isn't their M.O. They can probably steer you in the right direction.

I get up there from time to time,so if you need something let me know(if they won't ship). Very interesting place,to be sure.
