Beginners and Too Much Gun

That would be cool for you to do. It’s cool to see folks helping one another like that.
Man, I'm here to do my best for anyone that'll treat me decent. Shotgun, rifle, reloading, BJJ. I'll go out of my way to help. Unless they've proven that they are a jerk...then, well, it's KMAYOYO.

I certainly hope I didn’t offend you. I was just sharing personal stories that I thought would imply that recoil is highly subjective like mental stress. Some folks deal with both or one or the other better. I agree that most of us battles with the flinch and that it has gotten worse as I get older.

If you really think about most of the post on any site is opinion driven. I was telling a group of guys at work today, who were googling how to repair a piece of equipment, to go get the manual from the manufacturer out of the office. I said you are looking at some video or forum that any schelp can say what they want. I explained that back in the day if you wanted people to read what you had to say there were people called publishers that would make sure there was some validity and now even I can go on the internet and be an expert gloot maker.

Sorry for another personal story lol
absolutely not..... I loved your stories... and agree with you.

Nor am I trying to offend anyone. I'm just trying to point out that some folks likes porkchops and some folks likes hamhocks and IT DON'T MATTER!

As long as we're all in this together,

and all trying to help.

I like chicken

and youtube videos that help me fix stuff that useta' cost lots more money to learn LOL!

Great thread! I'm a noob at 47. Bought my first rifle within the last year, and I thank God that I did not take the advice of virtually everyone. I wanted to go hunting, and the Internet said that a 30-06 was my best option. A guy at the LGS was insistent that I would be much better off with a 7mm Rem Mag. Lots more advice given that ranged from a .270 to a .300 WM. Not a single person I bumped into suggested that I might try a lighter caliber rifle before jumping into shoulder surgery.

After several months, I had done my research and headed to the LGS again. They had a Tikka T3 in .223 on clearance and I bit. Best decision I ever made. The skills I perfected at that caliber are the reason that I now feel comfortable with much more powerful rifles. My buddy's .308 kicks but does not cause me to flinch, and I can shoot better than 90% at clay pigeons with a 12-gauge with my blind eyes. No chance that I would have ever achieved those results if I started with a 30-06. I probably would have put that rifle on the shelf and lost interest in the sport. Instead, I'm hoping to join some F-class competitions in the spring. In my limited experience, I have to agree with the OP.
