Been invited to Traverse City Michigan

Some good old boys from central Illinois that I hunt and shoot with have invited me, my son and grandson to go with them on their annual small mouth fishing trip to Traverse City Michigan. Be pulling a boat and staying in a motel there on the lake and three of us in the boat. Arkansas has been no problems since this thing started but don't want to get off up there and get in trouble with the quaritine. Wondering if you Michigan guys got any advice..... Thanks John

I’m no bass fisherman but have caught some nice small mouth on East Bay. Salmon are biting in Frankfort. I live 8 miles south of TC.
Thanks, but what I am worrying about is having Arkansas tags and getting in trouble with the quaritine orders..are places open where we can buy groceries and gas? Things like that, thanks John

Also on Friday, 5/22, businesses in the upper peninsula and parts of the lower peninsula were allowed to reopen and operate in a limited capacity. The decision is one that Republicans have pressed for weeks, despite Whitmer's emphasis on maintaining blanket bans on business across the state.

The order will impact bars, restaurants, and retail outlets.
The move will affect regions 6 and 8 as defined by the Michigan Economic Recovery Council (MERC), which includes the entire upper peninsula and the greater Traverse City region. Those businesses allowed to reopen must adopt safety measures and their workers must be trained in "workplace infection-control practices." While reopened, bars and restaurants must limit their capacity to 50% of their normal seating.

Those regions have now entered phase 4 of the MI Safe Start plan, labeled "improving." That means small gatherings can now resume. It also means that cases and deaths linked to COVID-19 have declined sharply as testing for the virus has grown. Recently, the state completed 15,000 daily tests.

With respect for everyones health and safety please catch fish that are more than 6 feet apart.

When you wash hands at the gas station after a pit stop, keep the hand dry paper towel to open exit doors and discard at the fuel pump waste can.

Hope the trip is a great adventure!

I travel for my job and last week drove from Florida to Green Bay, Wisconsin. I have stayed in a lot of Hotels since the virus hit and shut down businesses. You should have no problem BUT i do recommend that you stock up on your personal protective supplies. Hand Sanitizer being #1 , use it constantly! Be safe out there. Show all pictures of the fish you catch.

Roy's General Store for bait and fishing info. We've fished Long Lake for bass and the West Bay for salmon for 45 years. Omelette Shop for breakfast
Friendly people in TC just don't expect the charter captains to give you any info- you want info they say book a charter. Charters use cellphone among each other so no chatter on marine radio about fishing conditions. Dnr office in TC will have some info. Have fun be safe don't forget on Lake Michigan you need throwable with rope, life jackets, and current flare kit.
Bum Steer restaurant has excellent steaks and dinners. Apache Trout Grill is also excellent.

Its not a problem being there, the problem is getting there. Stopping at gas stations is probably the worst thing you can do right now. Some hotels along the way may not be open to non locals like arkansas did.

Will be there in a few weeks, reservations made. They asked if I would be there on business as being an essential employee. They could not ask what the business or position is.

If you can’t find a room let me know I have room.

Never met a charter captain for small mouth up here. If they introduced themselves as such I would probably laugh. I fish to eat!
