Bedding release wax ?

I am out of the regular mold release wax. I was wondering what type and grade of wax would be a good over the counter substitute. Thanks.

I use Johnson's paste wax. On another forum someone posted that they use Pam cooking spray and it works better than anything he tried. Haven't tried it myself yet, but will next time.

I've used Pam. The formula with Olive oil is recommended.
While it does the job I don't care for release agents that remain wet.

The best release agent I've used is the Kiwi neutral shoe polish previously mentioned.
It works better than the release agent supplied in the kits.
Butchers wax is another product that works.
I used car wax also. Did'nt have the courage to buff it invisible though. I left the haze.
I will use Kiwi from now on.

I have great luck with OneShot the Hornady product for getting stuck cases in dies. I no longer use it for a resizing lube but it works great for a bedding release agent so I have not tossed it out in anger. I think I have done 8 bedding jobs since I have used it, not a lot compared to a working gunsmith but maybe enough to show it works.

I spray the action let it sit for 15 minutes and repeat twice, then bed.

Ived used axle grease, smear it on and wipe off extra with a paper towel. It looks like there really isnt anything left after you wipe but nothing sticks to it. Ive used it for several fiberglass bed jobs. The first one i dropped the stock because i didnt think it would release that easy, just slipped off! Leaves a shiny smooth surface and doesnt react with bedding compounds.

That is brilliant... Obviously, that stuff would work great!!!
