First Time Making Bore Butter

Ok my turn.. one pound bees wax, two pounds beef tallow, 3-6 ounces of oil. I use Jojoba as it is the closest a person can get to Sperm oil which was originally used. Melt the wax in a crock pot which you can get at a thrift shop for under $10.. Mine was $5... Add the tallow and oil stir and our into a mould.. "Mould", meaning tupperware container.. or something.. More oil to the mix in winter less in summer...
That sounds awfully close to a recipe for Dubbin/Dubbing. It was used by the military around WW2 as a preservative/waterproofing on combat boots and other leather goods. And has been around for a much longer time

Be aware store bought lard has salt in it.

I won’t give a recipe as there are lots out there. Look at a couple of the cast bullet web sites.
I use what is known as Felix Lube. I tried several, store bought and other recipes. The FWFL Felix World Famous Lube original is what I use for BP and smokeless. Cleans up well and will stand speeds and pressure of full tilt ‘06. The only lube in my sizers.

Balistol 50/50 water for cleaning, then a wipe down with straight Balistol is all I use. No muss, not fuss, no rust.
