Bear cub release

Got a call yesterday morning to grab my video camera and to come up and film my friend Tom while he attempts to release a Black bear cub caught in a coyote trap off all things...
Never entered a video before, so I hope it works OK..
Probably need to click on it, for it to work...

Good video preacher. Not to mention that was pretty brave of the guy to go hands on to set the cub free. I'm no bear expert, but would imagine the little guy could put a hurting on you if he had deceided to fight.

That is the size of most of the 300# bears guys see in the woods deer hunting.

Glad that wasn't out here in Montana. The way the Grizzly's are this time of year that little guy would have been a snack while they watched Dancing with the Stars.

The little guy didnt even have a sore spot, he was in a #2 Bridger 4 coil with the offsets, and it got him right behind the big center pad, and no way would he have ever got out with out help..
It was at a scent post set, and he had no business getting caught there ..
The off set is where the jaws do not completely close up, and that in itself lessens the damage, and it will not cut off circulation, or break bones like the old style traps would.....

Bruce,my hat is off to you.Quite a few years ago on Honeoye lake,we had black ice.A buck went out and fell on the ice and couldnt get up.I walked out with winds blowing 30plus and the temp was about 5 degrees.My brother and I each took a leg and dragged him back to land.Dogs had bitten him,but when I got him to land he stood up and looked at us like to say thanks and gallopped up the driveway of trident marine. You guys really did a great job of not injuring the animal and my special thanks to your friend as well.
