Hate to go off topic , but, where would one send an Ohaus 505 to be refurbished?

You can get them fairly good yourself.
The agate bearing must be spotlessly clean and the beam knife edges that pivot in them also need be perfect. Polish them with great care and it's like having a new scale again.
A magnifying glass is a great help if your eyes are aging like mine.

I am interested in what current brands and models are popular. I inherited a Lee safety powder scale. I learned its advertised accuracy is +/- 1/20 gn. I see others like RCBS 505 is 1/10 gn. I have found the Lee scale difficult to use. Bottom line, I'm in the market for an accurate, reliable, durable beam scale. I will get a set of check weights.

I have an old Lyman M5 and even though untuned, is absolutely great. A single kernel of powder will move the pointer. I use it with a Dandy Auto trickler and have no desire to go back to an electronic scale or dispenser.

Redding #2 Master scales are rated very well. $102.00 at Midway. Or look for a used one on ebay. out of stock at midway but backorder ok.

The scale takes a long time to settle. My biggest frustration is it being easy to bump the set weight when removing and replacing the pan.

You do know that there is a locking pin for the vernier poise???
