Scales

I currently use a balance beam to weigh my loads, but I am wanting to get more precise charges. Though I am new to the L/R arena I would like to start making better loads. That said, is there a better scale than the current RCBS and other 1/10th grain scales available. I am willing to part with some extra money for a quality scale. Thanks for any help.

If your looking for precise precision, and have the money to spend, check out the GD503 Sartorius...

Save your money for more convenience. 1/10th of a grain is plenty efficient. But, why not Drop and Weigh at the same time? Here's what's showing up more and more at local, regional, and national NBRSA competitions and being used by some of the top competitors: http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=rc98923

Devil's advocate:

You can part with a whole lot of money on another scale and get maybe one or two kernels closer than what you currently have so basically you are saving a little time but not gaining in accuracy. 600 yard record-holder shot a .686" 600 yard group and says he uses a 30 year old RCBS beam scale and can agg under 2 1/2" inches for 16 targets. When in Rome...

Of course if you can shoot quarter sized groups at 600 yards already then the grand spent on a fancy scale may shrink your group a bit and have some benefit- don't we wish.

Sure..... money no object buy the $1000. scale and save a few minutes per 100 rounds but If the wind shifts 1/4 mph it will affect you 100X as much as that kernel you missed at long range.
