Bart Sauter Interviews with Erik Cortina

I'll start a different thread about the blast Joe asked me about so I don't muck up Bart's thread anymore.

Erik has asked me a couple times. I'm not sure that I would do a very good interview and I'm not a social media fan. Just another high school drop out gunsmith.

Number 74, no one can deny Erik, pressing play now :).

… so will y’all say “Hornady” in 91 minutes ;).

Well, I was right. I didn't do a very good interview. I hope it comes across better than it felt.
Appreciate the sharing of your experience, greatly. Especially, I keyed in on the ignition and primer discussion. Err on the side of harder primer strikes through pin weight, spring strength, length of fall. Couldn’t agree more.

Had a bad string lately shooting 87.0 grains where the temperature was too cool for standard rifle primers to consistently ignite the column. Hang fires resulted with low impacts. Reliable ignition can’t be taken for granted, even if magnum primers aren’t considered ideal for accuracy.

This interview is one of the best for us Fclass guys. By the way I like to poke Erik on here about the PRC originally being from Hornady, all in good fun. Great work Alex on that cartridge. Erik is a superb shooter obviously, “blue chip,” literally, but his recent long range SWN win with your new to him, cartridge puts it at 1 for 1 with him, and he was second in midrange, too. (Jay wanted to beat the Shehane’s ballistics a few years ago, not Jaaaay :)).
