BARRELS — PacNor Experience?

I have a .22BR on a Pac-nor barrel that is a tac driver. I would not hesitate to buy another from them. On a side note, if you send your bolt to Pac-nor for fluting I will be fluting it for you. Lol. And thank you for that. They are a pleasure to work with in every respect.

I have only shot one 4 shot group in my life where I couldnt find the other 3 shots. That was with a 3 groove 20 cal pacnor.
I live 5 minute drive from them. Saw the smoke on that horrible day. I should post a dash cam video of the drive up to the place! The plant is perched on the side of a steep wooded hill with a very steep 1/3 mi one lane blacktop driveway. When it is rainy and slick I use 4x4 to get up there! It is right by the ocean and we rarely get freeze or snow otherwise noone would be able to get to work! Nice people..all good ole boys. I figure it is just a regional thing for the popularity question.

When I started shooting the 30BR, it was an 18 twist PacNor. Shot very well, my wife shot one and it was just as good. Then they started making the 17 twist, and no complaints with those.

It got easy to just buy a Kreiger from Brunos when you just had to have a barrel. I did better with the PacNors.

I have a pair in 30 BR. 21” & 27”
They are my two most accurate rifles. Both take the same load and bullets. They alternate on their own which on a given day will shoot the tightest group. Both have produced groups in the 1’s. I’d like to say frequently but that’s not true.
If someone wanted me to shoot the smallest group I could it would be a hard choice which to pick.
I should add I only shoot 100 yard br. Not by choice but 100 yard is all that’s in my area.

Greg, I have a PacNor twisted 1:18 on my new Hunter gun chambered in 30BR. Interestingly, it came with a dark colored bore which PacNor advised me was a process they do to aid in break in. Now, I have my own way of conditioning a bore before firing a shot that shortens the break in. ;) But on this one, I decided to follow their advice for break in.

After the 6th shot, it completely quit fouling. The dark lands and grooves are now shiny.
So any insight as to what dark colored magic was in the bore? NeoLube?

No idea...not sure I'd call it "magic". It broke in nicely...just as I would have expected from any high quality lapped barrel. When we 'break in' a barrel, we're really just working on the edges left after the chambering. I put another 15 rounds through it the other day. Cleaned up beautifully.

My uncle had a savage 257 stw prefit barrel made by paynor. The chamber was banana shaped. He called them about it. They asked if he reloaded his own ammo. He replied yes and the they told him that voids his warranty and refused to do anything about the barrel.

I don’t know anyone who buys aftermarket barrels that does not reload.

They were 10 weeks in on my barrel when I heard the news about the fire. I just knew my barrel was burned, Kathy called me a few weeks later to tell me my barrel was one of five that survived because mine was out being fluted!
Great people to do business with.

300 win mag sight in before a TN hunting trip. 200yards from a hunting bag

Got 3 that I can remember. 6 BR, 6.8 SPC and maybe a .221 Fireball.
ALL shoot bug holes with very little work.. And I reload for EVERYTHING except 22 rimfire.

They did 2 for me. One was a 20P that shot great and a 6-284 that I almost went nuts trying to find a load for. Never did.

Have a 6.5x47 8 twist Pac-Nor medium Palma on a Savage PTA. Had Pac-Nor fit the barrel shouldered. 1350 rounds on it and it and it shot a 198 with 5x's in our last club 300 yd match.

Have been totally satisfied with the barrel.

Cold, windy and nasty day today but I decided to take the gun out and just get it on paper at 100....no flags. We're supposed to have some moderate winds a couple days next week so this would streamline things. Hung my normal black Sharpie blob at 100, bore sighted the gun and fired one. Then two more. That didn't take long. :D
