Barrel Vise - Need Recommendations?

Need a quality barrel vise for my new build. Which one?

I'm very satisfied with the Davidson that I bought from Sinclair about 2 years ago. Cost was around $58. Also bought a Davidson rear entry wrench for the Rem. 700. Both quality products.

I just got a new one to replace my Davidson from pbike257. I wore out my Davidson after many barrel changes.

Do yourself a favor and look at the Viper products before you buy. Bob Pastor is one of the greatest guys and his Viper products are not to be beat. Price is great at $48.00 and Bob will not only make you happy but do a great job.

I bought a wrench(rear entry) and a barrel vise.Both are outstanding from pbike.He shipped it so fast,why it was like lightning.

superlight93: What wore out on your Davidson? Roland: The Viper does indeed look like a good one. Especially like the return springs. Powder coating is another plus.

The Viper's barrel vice is a nice outfit. Although it does not work very well with sporter contour barrels, #5 contour and bigger it works great.

The threaded studs started coming loose in the base. They actually started pulling out when tightening the nuts. I am not saying Davidson is no good, just stating I wore one out. Mine probally had changed at least 100 barrels in its lifetime. The new one I received from pike is better built. I just used it and am very happy with my purchase.

Thanks for the good comments. I think I like the Viper best of all but I'll also like to look at the David Tubbs vice, too.
