My smith says to throw my borescope away.

Exactly.Does he want you to throw it away before or after he chambers your barrel?
I never use a bore scope in my cleaning regime. I never let the barrel get that dirty. A frequent modest cleaning is part of my maintenance routine. That routine changes as the barrel ages.Exactly.
Cleaning without a borescope is like guessing velocity without a chronograph.
Imagine what it would do without that gouge! This was my 5R factory Rem barrel. Horrible scratches around the circumference.

Not questioning his work. He doesn't believe in barrel cleaning. He thinks when guys use borescopes during cleaning they freak out over nothing. Were you checking his work and asking questions about it?
Dave how does the routine change with barrel age? Wanting to learn.I never use a bore scope in my cleaning regime. I never let the barrel get that dirty. A frequent modest cleaning is part of my maintenance routine. That routine changes as the barrel ages.
Correct. He had 3000 rounds on his last Dasher before he rebarreled it. Never cleaned it.He doesn't believe in barrel cleaning?
