borescopes

acloco: See my posted pics on page 1. Black B&C Medalist stock pic shows the main reason I do not use a 90 degree angled eyepiece. With the very large diameter bell housing, they will not clear a high comb stock. To me, not worth their $275 price tag. I've always believed in "just the basics", with the lower cost that follows. Don't need a Cadillac when a Chevy will also get me from point A to B.

Silverfox: "If you or anyone else thinks $620 is a high price for a bore scope, price out one that fits in a .172 caliber barrel". No, I've never said or inferred that $620 is a high price for a borescope. In fact, I've always said it's a bargain, far more valuable to me than any of my higher end rifle scopes like the Nightforces. Others seem to think they are too expensive, and in their next posting they will be discussing the future purchase of a March rifle scope. To each his own I guess.

We tried the VO scope and one other before giving in and buying a Hawkeye. No comparison.
We also turned a 6" long piece of Teflon down to a 30 caliber diameter and centerbored it to allow the Hawkeye tube to slide through it. This keeps the mirror dead center and allows for pinpoint focus. Not necessary in the .22 bores because it fits well anyway.
The flixible shaft borescopes are just no in the same world as a Hawkeye.
