Barrel length

Any problem in going with a 28" on a Savage SA? Don't want to go the barrel block route, and the barrel will be a Savage factory varmint contour.

Is the action stiff enough to hold it? This is strictly a bag gun, so length is no problem. Is the velocity gain worth it?

There will be no problems hanging a long varmit barrel off of that savage, if your shooting long distance that few inches of barrel are worth it.
