Barrel length vs. Velocity

What is the theoretical velocity gain of going from a 24" barrel 300 win mag shooting 190 gr. Bergers at 2750 to a 26" barrel.
How about a 28" barrels.
Thanks

I can't give any factual figures, aside from the old 100 fps per inch theory,I have been corrected,it is 25 fps). There are some diminishing returns in that.
But there is no doubt that a case with the capacity of the 300 Win Mag would benefit, velocity wise, from a barrel all the way to 28, maybe even 30 inches, especially with the heavier bullets and slower powders.....jackie

Higher intensity cartridges will show a higher velocity gain per inch than a lower intensity one, as in your 300WM verses a 30-30. No theory at all. Even going to a 32" barrel will show an advantage in your 300 WM.
The only real world comparison I can give is my 6.5-284.
My 18" X-P 100 gives exactly 300 fps less than my 31"
1000yd gun with the same load, which is 23 fps per inch.

Wasn't the old rule of thumb 25 fps per inch?
