Probably only gain a sore back from carting it around
If your rifle is pretty well balanced with the varmint contour barrel, that is what I would recommend that you stay with. If you get too much weight out front, it makes the buttstock want to whip around when the rifle is fired. The short barrel length will help that situation, but not eliminate it. I prefer that my rifles balance somewhere around an inch in front of the action (bolt guns).
