Barrel choice recommendations for 6.5

Had wonderful luck with Pac-Nor, esp. 3 grooves, wondering what some of you guys have to say about top 6.5 bbls.

Others I have thought of Lilja, Broughton, Hart....thoughts?

3 groove vs 5 or 6 grooves? Thanks.

I'm partial to cut rifled barrels in the 5R pattern because they tend to clean up easier than other designs. I have two in 6.5mm, one is a Bartlein, the other is a Border. The external finish on the Border is a bit nicer, but both are extremely accurate. There is a theory about how barrels with an odd number of grooves might be better,stronger?) because no two grooves are opposite each other in the bore but I can't proove it.

I've heard some great feedback about 3-groove Lilja's. Three groove barrels supposedly last longer because the wider lands resist heat and erosion better, but that's another theory that I can't proove. They do seem to clean up real easy, as I've noticed at the range.

I love my 3 groove Pac-Nor on my 6.5x55 F-Class rifle. It's the first bl on this rifle, so I can't compare with different brands, but with the current life, accuracy, ease of cleaning et al, I can't see replacing when the time comes with anything else.

I have several Pac-Nor three groove barrels. They are very accurate and appear to clean easier. I wouldn't hesitate going with Pac Nor again. Other barrels I own that I am equally pleased with are Hart and Douglas.

I may just stick with Pac-Nor, Chris always done me right and his prices seem good. I believe in his work, just considered others to try something different. Anyone ever have a less than satisfactory barrel from Pac-Nor? Thanks again.

For the 6.5 X 284, I have three Broughton's, One Hart, and One Pac-Nor...... I have no preference. You can buy a lemon from anyone '

After some thought, I was about set to use Pac-Nor and I will continue using them in the future, but since my action is Stiller I may let them barrel this time and Bartlein is one of their preferences. That said, am I giving up anything as to ease of cleaning or barrel life using a 5R vs a Pac-Nor or Lilja?

Heard Broughton 5c I believe does well so 5 grooves must be doing well. Bartlein also does 4 groove as the '96 mausers had same, wonder if they would clean as easy and last longer.....

Bartlien for a cut barrel 5R

Pac-nor for a button 3 groove

Can't go wrong either way, though if you send it to them for the work...I would tend to go with Bartlien.

The 5R rifling profile is noted for how easy it cleans...... but so are the three groove barrels from some of the better barrelmakers. As you so aptly put it....... decisions decisions
