Barnard vs Stiller

I'm gathering parts for a big CheyTac based build.

I've decided I would like a single shot.

Stiller has the 1.45" and 1.6" tactical actions both available in single shot.

Barnard has the P-Chey single shot.

Barnard is 3 lug and comes with a trigger.

Stiller are 2 lug and have more stocks already inletted for them.

Any input on which action is the better mousetrap?

I would opt for the one with the biggest lugs. I would factor in diameter for hanging a long heavy barrel on. A bigger diameter would be stiffer. Cheytacs work best with 32 inch plus barrels. Matt

I've got a Barnard, Stillers and BAT and Defiance actions. All are great. The + to the Barnard is it comes with a great trigger.

As has been said......I would get an action with a bigger thread so you can run a larger diameter on the breech end of the barrel for that big round. That would be my main priority to focus on.

Most of the guys building these .375's etc...want barrels any where from 1.450" up to 2" diameter breech ends and lengths mostly from 32" to 38" finish length also.

Got a Barnard P-Chey setting on the bench for a 375 Cheytac build. This is the first one I have had my hands on and it is definitely nice with a great trigger.

Seems no one mentioned where to get Barnard actions in the US - one source, Whidden - 229-686-1911 - in Georgia - http://www.whiddengunworks.com/contact-us/
