Actions that fit a Rem SA inletted stock

I have a stock that is rough-inletted for a Rem SA... rear action screw hole, trigger recess, and the general area of the receiver. No front action screw hole, no recoil lug recess. I'm trying to figure out what my options are as far as actions. Probably going w/ a 6 BR or Dasher FWIW. Single shot & right bolt are the requirements on my end. Left port/dual port would be nice, but not a deal breaker.

So far I've looked at these:

Remington 700/40X,have one that might be just swapped over as is)
Stiller Predator single shot
Lawton 400X
Borden Rimrock SSR
Surgeon Target

I'm not really sure about the other various BAT, Nesika, Borden, or Barnard and other actions as to whether they'd fit in a stock w/ the minimal inletting that this one has. If I could fit a Borden Rimrock BR RB/LP/RE or Barnard dual-port the selection process would get real short, real quick ;)

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

TIA,

Monte

A Quadlite is close, but I think slight differences,i.e., recoil lug and stock screw holes) are different. Depth of the trigger mechanism may also come into play.

A Savage has the same outside dia as the Rem. The trigger area is a lot different and it doesn't use an action screw at the tang but those issues can be easily resolved with a little handwork. You can get the LRPV RBLP actions for under $450

The QuadLite wasn't really on my short list, with the exchange rates between the US and GB driving the price up beyond what I'm willing to pay.

I haven't seen too many good pictures of the Barnard 'S' series actions. The only one on their site is shown in the white, so I have a hard time getting a warm fuzzy looking at it ;)

I've got a small amount of experience w/ the Savage actions :thumb: I've just always kind of wanted a gun w/ a 'fancy' action.

Thanks,

Monte

I have been shooting a Savage 112 single shot with a 12 twist 6br bbl. Rifle basix Sav 2 heavily modified, Stockade 100/200 br stock. Will .3'em to death if I do my part.

My 30BR Viper is such a quantum leap forward that there is no comparison.

With the Savage I am just trying to not have any big groups while learning the basics of BR competition [ and maybe win the prod class]. With the Viper I want to win overall even though that is really beyond my current skill/experience level.

I talked for a bit w/ Mac Tilton this afternoon about the Barnard 'P' action... sounds like it'll fit just fine given the minimal amount of inletting already done. The list just got *real* short :thumb:

Thanks,

Monte

Excellent choice - going with a Barnard P-O2 action.
Awesome action/trigger compared to a Rem/clone.
I have two Barnard P-O@'s built by Warner Tool Co.
I'm spoiled now!!!!

Rem 40X's are going down the road ASAP.
