Bald eagle front rest mod

Link

Gold $$ Contributor
My Bald Eagle came with the cable delete. The windage seemed a little course so this is my mod. Remove the knob along with the screw. Cut the sharp end off the screw with a hacksaw. Put a nut on the thread so that the screw is just below the nut surface. Take a drill thats larger than the screw, using the nut as a guide drill a countersink in the end of the screw. Find a ball bearing that will fit in the countersink, [I used a larger one but any size should work - bigger is better;].] Reassemble using a lil grease.

A 10 minute job.

Don

A picture would be great to confirm the work I'm thinking you did. That might help me out too.

And if someone would come up with some way of replacing the cable inside of a plastic hose to run the windage top they have it would be great! I really like the windage and speed screw adjustments being close together but can't deal with the cable and hose flopping around when I adjust it.

A fellow I shoot with has one that works flawlessly, the one with the cable windage system I bought was a not good at all. So I removed the cable assembly, flipped the rest parts around and put a knob on it. WD

Mine runs smooth. I use it as a redundancy or extra fine
tuning on top my Shade Tree top. I did do some shortening
of the lever and put on a much larger knob to suit my tastes.
Mounted all that to a thick steel base plate and steel ball
swivel feet. 32 lbs, and no need to look elsewhere.

I was wondering if something like brass tubing could be bent to shape to replace the plastic hose (think of someone repairing a trombone, for instance.) You'd have to be careful not to bend it though. Ever try dropping a block of lead on the loop while you're shooting? Might be something to try.

I agree with you on the proximity of vert and horiz adjustments being within hands reach of each other.

When u reversed the windage top did u drill and tap a new hole for the stock-stop or was it already set up for left-hand adjustments ?

I'm running a similar concept . It's a Protector rest same as Bald eagle with the 7/8-6 acme threads with a 3 generation Farley Compact on top with the plate . For my lite class guns it works like a cat's meow.

Can anyone tell me whether these windage adjustment tops are reversible or not ? Just wondering if I could swap mine over from the cable entering on the right side to the left ?
