Bald eagle front rest mod

What I found to be the key (or....at least made it easier) was to get the correct carburetor post from an auto parts store. The threads for the silver knob are different than the threads that go into the top plate. Those two threads match the threads on a common carburetor bolt. I'll update this post if I find those specs.

I think some cut off the cable at the end that goes into the plate...leaving enough to attach the silver handle to the remaining end. I didn't want to do that in case someone wanted to return it to its original configuration.

EDIT: It appears 5/16" carburetor stud - 18 tpi on one end and 24 tpi on the other end

Right, I wrote the specs down to take with me so I don't forget. LOL.

Ever try dropping a block of lead on the loop while you're shooting? Might be something to try.

I agree with you on the proximity of vert and horiz adjustments being within hands reach of each other.

I tried the weight, and I tried making a bracket to support it. Neither fixed the issue to my satisfaction so that's why I just flipped the top and put a knob on it.

And by the way here's a link for you fellows looking for directions to modifying the top and flipping it. WD

Is this the center bolt that holds the air cleaner on?
We will see how old this crew is now. Who had had a air cleaner off a carb ? lol

Hint, I still have carburetor tuning kits on my shelf. 3 Holly 2 barrels on my Mopar. No laptop tunes for efi though.

I've found those dual threaded bolts at ACE hardwares.
I used the stocker that came on the cable. I just cut it
off and fitted it up to my shortened knob, and used a set
screw. I took the harder and more time consuming
route......LOL

I'm running a similar concept . It's a Protector rest same as Bald eagle with the 7/8-6 acme threads with a 3 generation Farley Compact on top with the plate . For my lite class guns it works like a cat's meow.

The Protektor base is a Caldwell and you have a backward operating Farley compact on top. How long did it take you to learn the quick backward movement?
