Bad move AutoZone

This "God given rights" thing has really been blown out of proportion. I possessed a CCW in 2 different states in which I resided. Moved to the Peoples Republic of California, and finally gave up trying. During the years I carried my CCW, I never carried a concealed weapon. I simply wanted to have a CCW. Business owners, whether by their individual choice, or with the help of a business attorney, have a right to pen their own policy regarding the carrying of firearms on business property by employees. This "God given rights" thing, was pushed by the NRA back in the 1970s. The Declaration of Independence is quite simply, a declaration. It is NOT a legal document or contract. It, like the Constitution, (an actual legal document) was written by man. God had no hand or say in the matter. And if those gentleman who authored it were serious about it, they sure had a strange way of showing it. Most of them happened to own slaves at the time. Had God commanded that those words be used, the entire world would have the same "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Or do these "God given rights" pertain only to those of us living in the United States? Do you really believe the United States is unique in the eyes of God, and has granted those rights only to us? Those who wish to voice their opinion, whether yea or nay on a CCW, have a right to their opinion. It's called exercising your 1st Amendment rights. Or do we hold that amendment in the Constitution in lower regard than the 2nd. I witnessed too many gung ho gun carrying nuts when I served in Nam, and when working for the Sherriff's Office in Cochise County Az. For those who have never killed another human being, don't be so hasty. It isn't as easy as you might think. You could possibly find yourself sitting in a prison cell/spending more money than you will make in your lifetime trying to defend yourself in a courtroom.

JRS,

While I agree that the reality of what is happening concerning our freedoms in this country are very different than the principals and ideas that originated with the founding of this country, it is what I point to about how far from the foundation we have veered.

This country has evolved into something the founding fathers would not recognize anymore......The principles upon which they founded it have been so eroded that iit is NOTHING like the original intent.

What we currently have is a system that has subverted and circumvented the Constitution and the original ideas of the founding fathers.

While you are speaking the truth concerning the current reality of this country, I refer to the ideas of what this country was suppose to be....and actually was reality some 200 years ago.

Over that 200 years, laws were made that slowly but surely began to whittle away at what I would call "the original intent".

Here's what I and many other believe concerning these things:

This nation was a Christian nation and was intentionally founded as such by the founding fathers. With regard to that, there is much confusion as to what "christian " would mean now........but NOT 200+ years ago. The waters have been severly muddied since that time. I wish to return to those principles.

I also believe that all men have been given these rights by God all over the world. It's referred to being "self evident" in the original documents. Whether they are obtained or not is based upon the form of government they are born under......something our founding fathers understood, thus the Constitution was written......including the 2nd amendment to the Constitution....which gives the person/people the power to defend those rights. The ones we are talking about
There are many other things but suffice it to say that I/we ant to go back to the original intent and stay there.

These ideas that I have listed deal with the situation at hand in this discussion. We could get into property rights and ownership........for instance:

If you think your "own" your property....stop paying taxes on it and the REAL owners will come and get it........LAWFULLY. Which I believe goes against the will of what the founding fathers and God desire for this country. They should have NEVER been given the LAWFUL right to take whats yours....and we GAVE them that authority.....therefore LOOSING our right to gain personal property.....and so it continues to this day.

My main problem is that over a long period of time our freedoms have been lost to slow but sure legislation that has eaten away at it. And we have let it happen without realizing what we have done.

There was a time when the phrase "up in arms" actually meant the citizenry had armed themselves and were in the streets with them ready to change the situation using force if needed.

That term doesn't mean a thing anymore....other than someone is "pissed off"

Mine and your main difference is one of idea not reality. I mostly agree with your points....I just think it's not right, in that the reality goes against what the original intent was suppose to be.

I and many like me want to return to what God and the founding fathers intended.

Unprecedented FREEDOM.

As to what we're talking about now....disarm the people.......you can then take any other "rights" they may have. Slowly but surely we are giving our government the "right" to disarm us as long as the government promises safety......a promise they make, but cannot keep.

There's always some little "something" that keeps them from being able to do it......then they make more laws, and we loose more freedom......based upon a promise they cannot keep in the first place.

Well done apache ;)

I have to believe, many of us would like to move back the hands of time. Unfortunately, that is not likely to happen. The authors of our Constitution were pretty smart fellows. They also took into consideration the growth and change in our great country. That is why they made provisions in the Constitution allowing for this document to be amended as, and when necessary. We have gone from roughly 1 million people at that time, to somewhere in the neighborhood of 315 million. The Constitution has been amended 27 times in the past 200 or so years. Let's hope that by a show of unity, we can persuade our legislators to leave the 2nd Amendment as it is.

JRS,

Thank you.

I also agree completely with you. When the constitution needs to be changed, we need to do it as prescribed in the constitution itself. Not by nibbling away at it as it is being done now.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to roll back time!?

I wouldn't have missed that shot on that buck I missed so long ago! ::)
