Bad Experience with Bud's Guns

I only had one dealing with Buds. Price was better then
most, until it was not. Shipping fees across the board were
higher then "Grab A Gun". I also got socked an extra fee
for using a credit card. "Grab a Gun" over Buds, any day.
The web site is very clear that the advertised prices are for cash transactions. This allows Buds to pass the savings for no credit card fee on to the customer. I wish more businesses did that.

We've all had a bad experience with a dealer/company. Doesn't make that place terrible, just makes that one experience a bad one. Having a few bad ones merits ending business with them.

I have never had a problem buying from Bud's other than sometimes their time to ship is a little on the long side. That being said, I only have bought run of the mill things there and would not buy an action or anything like that from them.

I only have bought one rifle from them. 2 years ago just before Christmas. According to fedex after 3 delivery attempts they said it had the wrong address. This is an ffl. How is it wrong address when it should have been checked. FedEx would not give me any other info since i was not shipper or reciever. It got sent back to buds. I tried to contact them. No answer. All communication had to be done by live chat. Who runs a business this way. It was sent back out but was after the new year. 1 month later fron first ship out. Due to lack of customer service as far as never being able to talk to someone directly i will not buy from them again if i can so help it.
Buds is like some other online sellers. Everything is great until there is a problem. Then getting the problem resolved is difficult and time consuming. It's next to impossible to talk to them. Guess fewer employees is how they sell cheap. Looks like "You get what you pay for" is still true. Maybe I'm too hard on suppliers, but one bad transaction and I'm done with them -- particularly when there's no remorse on their part. Too many places to buy to put up with a "don't care" attitude. Old fashioned I guess, but I want a seller to appreciate my business, not act like I'm a bother. I'm willing to pay more if necessary for a good place to do business.

Never a bad experience with Bud's. I also use shipmygun.com which is part of Bud's. You can't ship one any cheaper. Seems like most have good experiences with Bud's.

I too have purchased a rifle from Bud's and it arrived...eventually...in good shape at my FFL's. It was a Rem 700 5R.

I suspect...don't know...that Bud's drop ships a lot of stuff.

I found info from them on order status and shipping to be very thin and as noted there is no way to actually talk to them.

For that reason, I will next time spend the slight amount more and get it from a more responsive vendor.

I've bought a few guns from Bud's and never had a problem. My most recent purchase, though, was over a year ago. I got an email from Bud's early last year apologizing in advance for slow responses to queries due to the Chinese virus. That one seems to have affected just about everybody. Re shipping costs, their shipping is free on new guns, so I guess that if "Grab a Gun" is better in this sense they must pay you to let them ship your purchase, right? It's hard to beat free. I don't know what they charge for shipping, if anything, on used guns. I've never bought a used gun from them so haven't bothered to look. Re the 3% fee for credit cards, they make it very clear in their item descriptions that the first price shown is for cash purchases and that CC purchases add 3%. I think that's perfectly fair. To me, the convenience of using plastic is worth 3%, others may disagree. So they give you a choice instead of just spreading a 3% fee across all purchases and not telling you about it, as just about everybody else does.

Re Fedex as a shipper, I've used them for years with absolutely zero issues. To have bought a gun from one of the best suppliers around then having it shipped via one of the best shippers and then having serious problems with both of them is either an incredible series of bad luck or maybe some kind of problem with the buyer.
