Back Gases 450Bush Bolt Action

Hi,

I have a Savage Wolverine in 450BushMaster and i'm getting some back gases on the fired Brass, but the primers do not show any sign of excessive charge.

I reloaded the first batch with:

VH N120 37gr
Hornady 250gr FTX
CCI 200 Primers
1800FPS

Nothing happen with this load

Then this weekend just reloaded a new batch:

VH N120 37,9gr
Hornady 250gr FTX
CCI 200 Primers
2019FPS

And the brass just got dirty on the base of the cartridge but the primers are perfect rounded so no excessive charged signs….

Any ideas?

Your cases are not sealing due to low pressure and using a slow burning powder.

IMR-4227, Lit' Gun and H110 are the most listed reloading powders for the .450 Bushmaster.

Only a very light roll crimp should be used because this case headspaces on the case mouth, or better yet get a taper crimp die.

Go to the Hodgdon's website and look at the load data.
