284 Win.
Is this a 284 with necked up 6.5/284 brass?
It's Lapua brass, using H4350 at 51.2 grains, BR2 primers
What is the bullet being used? Brand/weight?

The barrel is coming off tomorrow night to inspect. Just trying to get some direction on where to start looking. Chamber, headspace....I'm with Butch on this one, "Wedding Ring" bur when the chamber was cut, and maybe the load is a little "hot"

Read post #10Does the ring show up after firing or after sizing? Looks to me to be right around the height a sizing die would stop. Too low on the case to be a separation ring (at least any that I've seen.) If it's a hot load, it may be that you're blowing the base out a tiny bit, and the sizing die won't reach that far down, so you get the ring.

Start by verifying head space. I had a similar experience with a new chamber job. Head space was 7-8 thou long. Easy to check. If head space is good there is something else wrong with the chamber. The barrel is coming off tomorrow night to inspect. Just trying to get some direction on where to start looking. .... Velocity is 2825 with this load I'm running.
OK, I didn't see any issue when working up with new brass until a lot closer inspection. With talking with others at my club I was right in the ball park as to what they were running too. My smith and I are going to pull the barrel tonight and inspect. If nothing looks unusual there I'll redo the load starting around 49 grains of 4350 and work up.I my experience with the 284 Winchester and a 180 gr bullet you are running pretty hot at that velocity.
