Back Country cartidge conceptual question

Bat Rastard

Gold $$ Contributor
The concept of the new 7 Back Country uses a steel case loaded to 80,000 psi.
My question is: Could steel cases be made for existing cartridges and boosted to the 80,000 levels?

The author alludes to Federal being able to use the technology elsewhere. It wouldn’t surprise me if Federal is already looking for more opportunities. Might depend on whether the 7BC flops or flies.

ETA: Believe that article also mentions current SAAMI approved cartridges, that may create a conflict.

A +P variant might be a work around, but even that may be flirting with disaster.

Give em an inch and they will make a mile out of it in no time.....
P.s Plus a few meltdowns in the process.
On an other note that 7 Backcountry sounds very promising as a big game cartridge, as the are
getting some serious speed from a 190gr Berger in a 24 inch Barrel.
