Nobody that I have tried has any 6BR brass. Everybody says mid to late December.,got new dies and bullets up the wazoo) No brass!! Brunos, Midway, one outfit in Ohio and one in Washington.
I have a standing backorder at 3 places but no "for sure" delivery date. Anybody got a source??
Got one gent that will "loan" me some till I get mine but not sure when I'll get any! Any ideas? Any body got the same problem? Thanks. Mike.

Mike,
Call E. Arthur Brown and Compamy in MN. They a have a web site also to check prices. 800-950-9088

If for some reason they are out, let me know I just received a large order of 6BR brass and would be glad to sell you enough to tie you over.

There was a thread over on BRCentral.com full of speculation over the effects of Dakota Arms buying the rights to the PPC cartridge design - some "paranoid-minded" shooters went so far as to speculate that it was all part of a conspiracy to corner the market on Lapua brass, or something like that. Cooler heads prevailed, however, and a couple of guys who'd talked with insiders at Lapua said that the current shortage is mostly the results of underestimation of the demand for quality 6BR brass, along with the effort Lapua has been putting into getting a good supply of their new 6.5x47 case on the market. For those of us in this part of the country, brass shortage isn't as much a concern as the weather - it's too blessed cold to get out and do any shooting anyway.

Merry Christmas to all, and may your stockings be stuffed with boxes of Lapua BR brass!

Dennis: Underestimating the demand for Lapua brass is probably the correct term! Looks like alot of the BR crowd as well as the P Dog shooters have fell in love with the stuff.,me included) It took me about 2 weeks of looking over the posts here at 6MM.BR.com to get hooked!! Ordered "special made" dies from RCBS and was told 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.,Not a problem on this end) 14 days later they were at my front door! Now the barrel might take a little longer but without the brass I can't set up my loads anyway. It will all come together in time. I think I ordered some Norma brass from Midway. Should be here in a couple of days. Something to play with till Lapua is available.
Like I said, got one guy that will lend me a box till I get mine. Might take him up on the offer. We'll see what happens. Thanks Guys for the input. Mike.
And Chuck. Tried Brown too. Out of stock!!

The 6BR Norma Brand brass showed up today. Only 40 but at least it's a start. Got it primed and might drop some powder and bullets in it just to "ease the pain"! Was able to adapt my Compitition bullet seater die to do 6BR.
I did notice that the flash holes will take the larger decapping pins. That makes it easier to deal with. I do have the small unit for the lapua brass so I'am ready for both brands.

Call John at Gunstop -- www.gunstop.com -- I stopped there today and he has piles of Laupa brass, bullets, and VV powder. You will have a hard time beating his prices or his service.

Same problem here. Put in an order for 200 cases with Sinclairs. Normally they don't list an item if it's out of stock but I got hit with the old "2-3 weeks delay" bit. I howled mightily but kept the order in place since the rifle is still being built.

Shortages, especially artifical ones, allow manufacturers and distributors to jack their prices up. Just take a look at the 100% spike in the retail cost to us over the last year or so. -Rod-

Just placed an order, email) for 200 from gunstop.com. We'll see if it's backordered. When you get it in your hands...;) all is well! And thanks guys. I'll let you know what happens. Mike.

Just got a email from John Walton at Gunstop Reloading Supplies, Inc. My Lapua 6BR brass has been shipped. :thumb: Thanks guys for the help.
And I also got a note from Shilen telling me that my barrel is in the works.:D Life is good!!

Word from Sinclair to me a few minutes ago is that their Lapua brass will be arriving next friday, which would be December 30th. I'd assume other dealers have a similar timeframe running. Word to the wise, eh? -Rod-

Rod. If thats the case, I should have enough Lapua 6BR brass to start my own small war! 3 different outfits have me on their backorder list.,200 per) At least the stuff won't go bad. Got a shooting buddy that might go 6BR too so we won't have a "lack of brass" problem. Thanks for the heads up! Mike.

The Lapua brass showed up today!,200)unprimed. :thumb: And on top of that, got another box of Norma brass. Along with the Norma brass I also got a RCBS Compitition seater die in .243. Works good on the 6BR. Thought I could modify my other RCBS seater dies for the 6BR but it was easier to get a die just for the job. Lapua brass still has the small flash holes. Norma brass will take the larger pin size.,got both size pins).002 size difference in the bases between Norma and Lapua. Load em up, shoot em and see what works best.;)

RCBS or Redding??

Next time there's a brass shortage...you may have people pounding on your door :D -Rod-

Rod: RCBS! I have looked at all the different brands of reloading dies and still like the RCBS line. The bullet seater dies,Compitition Dies) have a window on the side that you set the bullet in. All the others that I have seen, you have to set the bullet on the case neck. I like the idea of being able to see as the bullet starts to seat. RCBS dies for the 6BR have the larger decapping pin, smallest they make). Won't work on the Lapua brass but works for the Norma brass. I also got a decapping pin assembly from Sinclair, Redding I think ?,that has the small pins for the Lapua brass and fits in the RCBS dies. Factory seconds bullets from Winchester and boxes from Nosler and Hornady. So,I'am set for loading the 6BR. Now if my barrel would show up,.....! Between the USPS, Fed X and UPS, someone should be inviting us to Christmas dinner eh? ;) Mike.

Huh. I didn't even know RCBS made a competition seater, which is why I asked. I've been using the Redding seaters for years so just never poked my head up to look around I guess ;) Plus I do almost all my reloading purchases via Sinclairs and they don't sell RCBS dies, just Wilsons and Reddings.

I'm hoping I'll get my gun back from the gunsmith -> McMillan's in time for my birthday in April. It's a long wait and I'm not known for my patience. Fedx and UPS both owe me big time. There have been times where they've shown up 3-4 times/week as I brought in supplies and tools from everywhere under the sun. Hell, the drivers should have given ME a tip for Christmas, not the other way around :D -Rod-

Rod. RCBS, Redding, Wilson... It's all in what you get use to using. With a little "Mix and Match" you can get your dies to do it just the way "you" want to. I'am just about caught up on my shipments so no deliveries for awhile. Barrel next.:thumb: I just order it and forget about it. That way when it shows up,it will be a big surprise. Patience "is" a virtue!!;) Mike.

Backorderer 6BR Lapua brass,200ea.) showed today up from Russ Haydon's Shooters' Supply out of Gig Harbor, Washington. They told me that I was first on the list. Looks like the "dry spell" might be over.:thumb: Still got some on order from ?. North East! Don't remember the outfit. Just ordered it and kept my fingers crossed. At least I won't be running out of brass.:D Got to get it while you can!;)

Too late! It looks like everything is gone. I called Sinclair, Midway, Russ Haydon, Harts and Brunos. None of them have any left - it all went on standing back orders. Next shipment is forcast for mid-late Feb, so they say.

Yup. I got screwed. When I ordered the dealer told me they were out of stock. They said nothing about being backordered. There's a difference. The time came and went, no one said a word to me, I finally contacted them and they tell me it'll be two weeks. More time passes, no word from them at all, I contact them again and only then do they tell me about the backorder situation. That's not what I call good customer relations.

We squared it though. With some dickering I not only won't have to pay for a second shipment, since I requested that what they had be shipped to be followed by the brass when it comes in) but they won't be charging me any shipping at all, for either package.

Still, it irks me that they were still accepting orders for items they did not have on the shelves.

BTW...I had to move my site to a new host and in doing so I lost my forums's database. I have the backup, it's just incompatible with the new server's version of SQL and won't load up. Anyhow, I started my forum ALL OVER AGAIN. 20,000 some-odd posts right down the squatter. I'm still getting it back on it's feet and it'll be awhile before the membership catches up and the board starts to have a personality again. This has been making me crazy for 2 weeks now, has monopolized all of my time, but it looks to finally be on track. At any rate, feel free to drop in and give us a try. Firearms discussions are welcome but it's not even close to being the focus of the board so I don't think I'll be competing with 6BR :D Link below. I'll see you here, there, everywhere... ;) -Rod-

For those of you who have received Lapua 6mmBR brass this year has the price of the brass gone up much at all or is it still around the same price it was last year?
Thanks,
Wayne aka WAMBO
