Athlon chronograph in stock

there were reports during one update that dropping shots was a common issue, did they fix that?
Yes. It was over and done in short order. Garmin fixed it over a weekend and got things squared away. I never had the issue, because I waited to update after hearing of a glitch. Garmin did a stellar job supporting their users in my opinion.

I guess the way it works in China is you have a plant that is making the unit. Garmin designed it with their proprietary tech (Garmin is an American company as far as I know) and they gave the design to this Chinese facility to make it. Then the plant sells the exact same unit to a competing American company using the previous American company's design (most likely patented design).

I would feel bad for Garmin, but they could have made it here. I guess that's no patent protection either, since the Chinese knock off patented USA made products every single day with no reprocussions whatsoever. I don't know how many American companies have been severely crippled by Chinese knock offs of their products. But the ship has sailed, I guess. Sad. It really is sad. To me.

A Garmin feature not often discussed is its ability to negotiate transmit channels with other RADARs on the line. Labrader let you pick channels, and you needed to use one not in use by your neighboring shooters. Otherwise, if you enabled two or more Labradars at once, they'd argue with each other. Personal experience here . . . .

Garmins get along fine with others. We've had several on the line at once and had no arguments. At least between the Garmins anyway . . . . :)

Does the Athlon have the same feature?

First thing I did when I bought the LabRadar was to change the default channel. I just knew there would be others on the line causing interference. This went a long way with that problem but the aiming issue was more or less an exercise in frustration. The Garmin....is money.

My Athlon unit is in transit from Natchez and tracking says it will be here this Saturday :)
I'm 73 years old and I've owned 4 chronographs. Oehler (okay) Pact (zero factory support) Competition (great) and LabRadar (pain in the ass) . So after hearing all the hype about Athlon I pre ordered 2/19 and received it 5/7 and it seemed to work. Tried to use it yesterday and it wouldn't turn on, so I called Athlon and had to leave a message. I have heard nothing from them yet, so I boxed it up and returned it to my dealer asking for refund. My new Garmin is due tomorrow. This is my first and Last Athlon product

Mine arrived yesterday. It turned on, battery showed a full charge. Only issue was the app didn’t work. I called customer service and she said it should be fixed within the week. I’m going to try it out Monday with some pistol ammo.
