Athlon chronograph in stock

Mine showed up today. I paid $350 from Natchez.

Great little hard case with organized compartments. Menu is super easy to use and had no need to read the manual to set everything up. Also worth noting is that the included mini tripod is solid aluminum and actually has some weight to it. I was expecting a cheap plastic or polymer tripod so was happy to see a quality aluminum tripod.

Pretty impressed so far. If it reads bullet speeds consistently as I’m sure it will, then I think we have a winner!

With my old Labradar, i had to buy a hard case, had to buy a tripod, had to buy triggers, had to buy a sight to aim it perfectly, had to buy an extra battery pack or it wouldn’t last long, had to keep the user manual handy because the menu was more complicated than than flying a spaceship, etc…LOL.

These little units from Garmin and Athlon sure are a massive leap in tech to go from the Labradar to this. Cant believe Labradar let this opportunity to maintain control get away from them. But thats what happens when you get comfortable at the top and take your foot off the gas. Now with tariffs, i bet Labradar goes broke

I received mine on Thursday from Natchez and had it on the range an hour later during our weekly 100yd Rimfire match. Worked flawlessly, easy set up, no issues with bogus data from shots off other benches 4ft away. Ran near a second Athlon unit and had no communication crossing. 3 sessions completed with over 150 shots recorded, none dropped. First impression is excellent product for the price point. Time will tell how reliability is…..

This is a snapshot of some of the Rimfire data uploaded from app session to an excel file. Didn’t input all of the data for this session so the KE, PF data not correct as bullet weight was set at 400 instead of 40.. Just to get an idea of what data looks like. Note there is an comment field for each shot in the app…. If you have a spreadsheet app on your phone this is an easy upload from the app. that will be handy..

Great thread!

I've been considering the Garmin to replace my old Shooting Chrony, then saw the Athlon arrive on the scene. For the money at this time, it appears the Athlon is a very good unit at a better price with basically the same features. If anyone disagrees, please post with your reasons, as I'm about to get the credit card out soon.

It appears that there are multiple sources for both units, and the price seems to be $600/Garmin and $400/Athlon. If anyone has anything helpful to save a few bucks at an online outfit, I'm all ears, as I'm about done with the old Chrony. The latest technology is amazing, I'm ready to take advantage of it.

Probably no sales tax for you and $8 shipping.

Ask @lancexxx here on the forum for a price on a new Garmin. He’s a dealer. The price difference is closer than you’re portraying it to be.

the athlon was being sold at 300, but since its in limited supply, prices are back up

Gave it a good test this evening with my PCP air rifle. Its a 22 cal, silenced, and regulator turned down to shoot the 21.14gr Baracuda Match pellets at subsonic speeds. Cant get a much smaller or quieter muzzle report.

Happy to say that the Athlon picked up EVERY shot with ease and consistent accuracy. Took no time at all to throw the unit up by the muzzle, quickly half-ass aim it in the direction of fire, turn it on to “Air Rifle” mode, and start shooting. So easy!

This is a very quiet rifle shooting a small projectile so I am thoroughly impressed to say the least. Not bad weather this evening for playing on the deck either! :)

I know, I'm a GunTuber so a lot of what I say may be dismissed but I did buy mine off EuroOptic, got it a few days ago and just shot it for the first time yesterday at a 22 match. It caught every shot (about 75 total) from various locations around my gun (left, right, on top of my Seb, etc). Gonna shoot it tomorrow with my F gun and see how it does. I will say that initially I liked the idea of the side scroll buttons but my brain still wants to use only the top ones so I end up repeating steps but I'm sure that's only gonna happen to people using both the Garmin and this so maybe a minor issue.

Ordered one here:
Liked the fact that they are promising to give your $$ back if more testing when the next batch comes in exposes a deficiency. Doesn't hurt that they are still 350$ there either. Was at Cabelas a couple of days ago and they don't sell them. Couldn't find any 3" Schwackers to try either. They do have an extensive stock of tee shirts though.

Athlon has indicated the Login ID set up function on the app. has been corrected. Tried today and was able to set up a login ID without a Google or Apple acct. required.

Trued my Rangecraft today with two 6.5 Creedmoor factory loads with which I know my elevation settings that enable me to be on target at 500 yards. With both loads, the Athlon rendered average velocities which when entered into my ballistics calculator gave elevation settings that will allow me to be on target. I plan to do more testing, but so far very pleased.
