Athlon 15-60X BR Scopes

2 days ago I mounted a Argos BTR 10-40 on my wife's CZ457. It definitely seems to be worthy enough for the cost.
We'll get it to the range tomorrow or Friday and run a few simple test on it and evaluate it. My buddy that bought his at the same time on the order is using his and so far is very happy with his purchase.
Personally we went into these scopes knowing they are not a $1500 scope and don't expect them to be as good.
However for $300 on sale they were well worth it.

I have that same Athlon on my T1x and it's perfect for it.

As curiosity goes as was mentioned about the reticle on the Ares model it is the same as the reticle on the 10-40 Argos and as I do have and use an Argos I would love to see them side-by-side to compare. Mainly because at the range I shoot we are restricted to just a max of 300yds. Though I am pretty sure the Ares will out perform when out past that distance. At a distance of 300yds I normally shoot .5MOA 10 ring targets with a 30X magnification.

Update to this thread Ares 15-60 scopes

We visited Bluecollar--They had a Heres 15-60 in stock--we looked at and through it--wow sharp bright! I like the reticle in the ARES much better--but the sharpness and brightness in the Heres was enough to convince me--we wanted two Ares--Nobody in USA has them in stock--got on waiting list OK ..so we call Cameraland in NY talked with JEFF--he says I will call my Athlon rep find out when--He calls me back in an hour says Mid June BUT they will fly in some for me mid May--He says put deposit I will get you scopes--he gave us a great discount vs the advertised prices--he said I will EARN your business That he did! I have not run into Hustle like that in a long time--If you want one call Jeff and tell him David K in NC sent you and you want a scope--They Hustle!
The Heres looked amazing but I want the dot reticle so we elected to wait on the Ares If you can live with no dot I think the Heres will make you smile for a lot less $$ I think the Heres is still a great choice of a killer deal in a long range scope but we went Ares for the dot and illuminated reticle
Camera Land went the extra mile Call Jeff tell him I sent you please

Hope you review this new batch of the Ares coming at some distance, I'm looking for a do all scope from RFBR,p dogs and LR past 1000,Zero stop,IR.......but that 600yd parallax thing keeps popping up.

Has anyone tried to adjust parallax on the Ares at long range? Most any scope will get parallax out to 500-600 yards, but will the Ares get the parallax out at 1000 and farther?

I hate it when manufacturers advertise their parallax settings from “X” yardage to “infinity”. They all go to “infinity” but thats actually a load of crap. Infinity is not actually infinity on a lot of these cheaper scopes geared towards rimfire.

I wish companies would advertise parallax adjustment settings as going from the lowest yardage setting to the longest yardage setting on the knob, not counting infinity because we all know every scope has that. The reason is that a scope that goes from 10-20 yards, and then up to 300-400 yards before the infinity setting are going to be very touchy to eliminate parallax at long range and possibly not fully be capable of it. Scopes with parallax knobs that go up to 1000 yards before the infinity setting are much easier to adjust at long range to FULLY eliminate parallax along with a nice crisp image

I have 4 athlon scopes and I love them all and like their reticles. I already sold off a razor I replaced with an athlon. Im considering switching my tract toric for a athlon cronus. Id give their BR scopes a try.

The Toric and the Chronos are the almost the same scope made by LOW in japan--I think the Chronos is the only Athlon made by LOW
Love my new Athlon Ares 15-60 but nothing and I mean nothing I have used beats my 4.5-30 Tract Toric

I'd been waiting on the next shipment of the Ares 15-50x60 scopes since April. No idea whether backorders caused them to sell a shipment or two before my name on the list finally came up, but whatever - UPS dropped mine off this past Wednesday, and I was able to get out and zero it on my V22S yesterday afternoon. Wind was not helpful, gusting & switching, but I at least got the scope mounted & leveled. This V22S is a RB/LP version, which keeps me from being able to use the large parallax wheel, as it blocks being able to load rounds & also blocks ejection. But the parallax knob rotates smoothly, and since all my shooting was at 50yds, there was no need to have the wheel on the scope anyway. With it set at 30x, I was easily able to focus for a very sharp image & eliminate all noticeable parallax. The temp was 85*, sky was clear, and the 60mm objective provided a very bright & clear image - I was in somewhat of a hurry, so didn't bother to try more magnification.

Next time out, I'd like to try this rifle/scope combination at 200yds and play with more magnification to find out how it deals with mirage. Not that I'm aware of any regular RFBR comps at 200, but still want to see how it deals with mirage, and want to see how bright it is at 50x compared to the Sightron SV that I had mounted on this rifle previously. It's certainly brighter than the SIII 45x45 I tried, but I'd expected that with the 60mm objective. So first impressions were good, but I had less than an hour to play with it, so am looking forward to the next range session with this new scope.

That statement is only true on springer air guns.

PCP air rifles recoil in the same direction as a center fire rifle so no issues. Can put any scope on them
i meant to say that too,, thanks! (i have a custom haley 45 cal that shoots 300 grain bullets near 1000fps) i've taken 2 deer with it. i don't hunt with it any more though, if the bullet don't completely penetrate, no blood trail.. i shot the buck, high shoulder & dopped him & 2nd shot behind ear to finish.. never had scope problems with he leupold i have on it. I rarely hunt with it any more though...

300gr at 1k fps!? Wow that’s crazy! Really cool too :)

I'd love to have been able to do more shooting with my V22S 22RF since 21 July, but we've had blazing hot temps ever since the 1st range session with it, and I've had some serious blow-outs in our underground water system that connects four wells with two large irrigation sprinklers....not what you want to see happening at the same time, especially while the corn is pollinating. Temps consistently in the triple digits don't do the corn any good even if you can keep water running, nor am I someone who enjoys sitting at the bench in such temps to try to figure out how well a scope is working. Hopefully, we'll see the high pressure dome that's causing this intense heat fade away as soon as possible so that we can look forward to milder temps & some decent rain!
Until then, about all I can do is look online for more actual experiences with these scopes....

I have gotten used to and like my Ares 15-60. My question is does the Herra also have the same glass, just a different rectile and no illumination?

On Athlons sight the dont rate the glass as UHD like the Ares.

So, I just mounted the Athlon 15-60 back on a rifle. It's taking the place of a Midas Tac 5-25 that I love.
Immediately I was reminded of a couple of things I dislike about this scope.
Eyebox to me is very tight. I can just barely get the scope far enough rewards.
The rings obscure the wind age and parallax knob readings. Perhaps another design rings might help both my eyebox and obstruction issues.
Parallax wheel will not work with a level mounted on the same side. I have mine mounted on the right side now... not sure how I'm going to make that work.
Ill have it back out tomorrow for a little short range fun. If I recall correctly I did most of my shooting @ 40x. Anything higher and the mirage was pretty bad on some days.

YMMV
