In Oregon, and I assume everywhere else weed is legal it is a cash only
business. I don't know if you can even drug test . There are a lot more pot shops than
gun stores . My LGS told me the ATF told him to deny sales to anyone that even asks
about the question
It Isn't cash only here, but the shops sure do prefer it.
The wife uses weed for post cancer pain and anxiety medication. For over eight years, I have been the one buying at shops, presenting my ID, making edibles, etc.
In all that time, I've done over 40 background checks, at least three more for federal security clearances, perhaps 20 drug tests -- all clean, all instant approvals.
From what I've observed, weed is harmless. Alcohol and Valium, much more harmful, but still not so much. The ones that are scary (and these were all Schedule I Rx) : morphine, oxycotin, Xanax, gabapentin and fentanyl (yes, they used to prescribe it).
Morphine and oxycotin, in proper amounts makes the mrs. smile and sleep.
Xanax is like drinking a fifth of Don Q 151 - drooling, staggering, but without the vomit.
Gabapentin practically lobotomizes the patient. Wife was a Scrabble champion, but on Gaba, had trouble spelling t-h-e.
Fentanyl - you stop breathing. 'Nuff said.
I'm of the opinion that the opiate crisis was a manufactured issue, a precursor to Covid.
I also believe that part of being "well regulated" means sober and in control when you pick up that gun. When you're not carrying it, if you're smoking opium at brothels, that's your business. You just better possess all your faculties when you pick it up again.
