ATF learned how to do tax stamps quickly

That revenue should not be part of their operating budget. It's a so-called tax.
I bet if they got to keep it, they'd raise it to $500 or more.
Correct, they don't get any on the monies brought in by tax stamps. Brandon from Silencer Central did an interview recently and said that ATF was hiring more examiners to be more efficient with NFA processing. This "may" be the result?

Why does a tax require an "examiner"?

This has always been my question. What is the difference between the background check on a firearm and silencer?

The ATF is the TAX regulator. Why do they need to "examine" a tax?

Honestly asking.

Agree 1 million %. I wish it was an over the counter purchase like a firearm. Sure, run the 4473 and give me what I paid for!

But honestly, they are there to setup the account for you and upload all your info into, then setup the facial recognition profile and add your fingerprint data to that account that you have are required to provide them.

If I had my own range or could shoot at home, I might buy one, but I have to go to a public range. At the range, I am bombarded by more than a few shooters shooting noisy short barreled AR-15s or using brakes on their rifles. What would be the benefit for me?

I have three, one was 11 months, another was 8 months...both of those were about a year ago. And I just picked up my most recent one last week, which was a 23 day wait.

My dealer said the ATF is separating out the individual submissions because they are easier and farming those out to local branches. I have no proof of this, it's just what he told me.

Not terrifying the entire family, pets and neighbors in the event you had to kill someone breaking in your house. Just one benefit.

Less recoil. Also if you hunt they are a great benefit.

This is a relevant reason. At public ranges, I don't use mine unless i'm sighting in the rifle for hunting season. No use having it on when everyone else is blasting away without one. Plus, they get really hot, really fast. I generally shoot too much to bother having the suppressor on and having to wait 20+ mins for it to cool down after a string of fire. They have their purpose for sure. Not everyone's cup of tea. Some people just don't need one. I have a 150 yd home range (don't want to annoy my neighbors) and that was 50% the reason for owning one, hunting the other 50...
