At what point is a RAD worth it?

Doing a new F-Open build. Thought I wanted a RAD when I was thinking of going 284 Win, but now I think I am looking at something between a 6.5 CM and 6 Dasher. Probably doing to do 6.5 or 25x47 lapua since I already have another rifle chambered in the dasher. Was wondering at what point most people would start to conciser getting a RAD installed on the stock? Is it worth it at all for 6.5mm?

Get the stock inletted for a RAD, regardless of what chamber you choose. You can get just an adjustable butt plate from them and if you do ever go up in size you're already set up to get the recoil parts. Thats what I did on my latest build in 260AI, just the adjustable butt plate.

For a 30 Caliber Magnum it is a matter of endurance. A slick rest front bag and rear bag will transfer a significant amount of recoil back to the shooter. Over two days of shooting it will start to make you anticipate the shot and effect your discipline. Scores and comfort will be affected.

If it's a WSM add the RAD. If it's a MAG bolt face I recommend it still.

My secondary FO gun is a 6.5x47 and I wouldn't even consider a RAD for it. Can't see why you'd need one in a 20+ lb gun. A .300 WSM however...
You need one only when you decide you need one. I just put a 300WSM together. I thought I better do it now, before I get much older. I’m 68. I went to the range with it for the first time and it wasn’t as bad as I feared! Not a pussycat, but no worse than a hunter weight in 308. The gun weighs 17 pounds. Big thick long heavy varmint barrel weighs 10? Pounds by itself and it shoots!

Yea I don't get wanting a recoil devise on a 6.5. But as I get older and become even more of a cripple than i am now maybe so. The first 6.5 I owned was a 6.5-284. Back then they were called a fag mag, cause it was so light in the recoil department, and if a 30 or 338 bothered you, you could get the 6.5-284.

I shoot 6xc 109 burgers @3100
20 pound f open no recoil absorbing anything needed

How's the barrel life on that one? You shoot a 600-60x with it? I actually tried out the 109's yesterday in my dasher. I think they shoot tighter than the 105s. I was pushing them 2850 and making nice 1" groups at 300 yards.
