Asking for opinions

I much appreciate all the comments. It seems like you fellas are good at dissecting right to the issues, and your insight was what I wanted. Need or necessity, is not really a factor, because it is after all, a hobby, but unnecessary redundancy can hinder real progress where it is needed most. Funds and time in my world are never unlimited, so I just want to make it count. Thanks much to you all.

No. The 220 Swift will do everything the 22/250 will do plus a little more. Go to the Hodgdon on-line reloading site and compare bullet weight and velocity between them and you will see that there is not enough difference to bother with having both. Both will burn out barrels fairly quick if subjected to extended firing without cooling.

drover

So true. Shooting P-dogs across the desert at 600 yards in the Western wind separates the 22-250 from the long range .220 Swift. May be shooting Ground Hogs in the East you do need the extra punch of the Swift?
