Long range 22-250 AI or no????

Looking at getting a 8 twist 22-250 for long range prairie dogging. I already have some 6mm guns set up for longer range but would like to try a 22. Is the ackley worth it over the regular one or will it just burn out the barrel faster? On my other rifles i normally find the most accurate load rather than the all out fastest. What do you think AI or not? Never had any ackley calibers before. thanks

The plain 22/250 is known to be a brass stretcher, and doing the Ackley thing to it, solves that problem...
I would hate to be without at least one 22/250 AI...
Try the .224 75 grain Amax when you can, you'll like what it does....

Agreed! I am running a 1:8 twist with the 75 a max at 3325 and love it. Shoots good, have taken a few dogs at ot or around 600 yards, one of them was twice rite through the heart lungs. It is fairly easy to load for only reason i say that is because you have to fire form or buy an expensive hydrolic die for shaping, other wise 75 amax and some h4350 and go

Did a 1:8 22-250 and shot 80s at 3150 fps which was pretty mild load and never ran it hot. It was a good long range pd round but only lasted around 800 rounds. I wouldn't do another one, would go 22br or some kind of 6mm. A 22br is almost as fast, more accurate and should last longer for pds. If you were only going to use it for a coyote rifle and it would take several years to run 800 rounds then the 22-250 or 22-250ai might serve you well.
