Are "clickers" just a problem for competitors?

"Clickers" and bolt lift resistance at ramp stage of bolt cycle were eliminated on my wife's .300 PRC with the use of an Area 419 "M" series sizing die. The die properly sizes the case at the web area and allows precise control of shoulder setback. Smooth extraction allows sight picture and cheek weld to be maintained round-to-round.
Better known as primary extraction

Damn, I feel so ignorant, been shooting and reloading for over 50 years and I didn't know what a "clicker"
was.
Until this thread I thought clickers were when your primer wouldn't ignite. If Ken Burn's great great grat great grandchild does a documentary on reloading and uses my notes, they are gonna see the term clickers used in a very wrong way. Also the documentary will be rated R based on some of the language in my notes when I have a bad range day.

I never knew this was a thing. But as a couple have said in this thread already, I now know what it is, and some of my brass are clickers.

I’ve googled for a small body die to help with this, but I’m not able to find anything for the .280ai.

Is this something I can talk to someone about and have made??

You could have Whidden or other die makers build you a die or you could buy a ring die or you could buy a small base .308 die and cut the die off below the shoulder.

In researching "clickers" I've read most every method of remedy. My first inclination is to spend more money revamping my brass processing. BEFORE I do what I've always done in the past with mixed results, let me ask the question:

As a non-competitor who's still concerned with quality do I still need to worry about "clickers?"
Yes. In a nut shell you're brass will no longer respond to proper sizing. No more mister nice guy on groups. Throw it away.

Yes you can have a die made but it's going cost more than the price of buying new brass. Next time don't lean on your brass so hard.

A cheap way to size the .200 line smaller is a Lee carbide .45 ACP sizer die. With the top assembly unscrewed, a .308 or similar case fits through just fine. They even make an undersized one. I make use of mine when I change out a .308 barrel and the previous barrel's brass gives clickers. About $20.

You say that like Peterson Brass in .280 Ackley is easy to come by. I watched for over a year before it became available for a short period of time when I grabbed 100.

Took a look at my Lee die mentioned above. While my .308 cases fit without modification, a longer case would require cutting off the top. Midway has them for $24.86.

You can do as my friend did and buy the big bag from EuroOptic and sell the excess here.

Clickers are a result of a poor die to chamber match, that doesn’t mean you need a small base die or a custom die, just a die that sizes more at the .200 line.
Some dies are reamed while other brands are bored and have slightly different internal dimensions.
I would try few brands and monitor the new brass as it’s being formed and resized.
Just my 2 cents
