When do you clean during a match

Cleaning? what the hell is that! Eric maybe you could do a you tube video or get some others I know to show you their steps. Bring lots of batteries, you will need them. Shooters I have seen will take over an hour to clean a barrel. Scrub those X's out! I had over 200 rds down my barrel before I dry patched it at Berger SW. It was dirty when I got home, but gold medal was still shiny!

Personally, I would like to see enough time so people could clean between matches, But all shooters including Warren should clean like mad asap after match is over. May I recommend Dutch Cleanser! Its all in your mind. Of course I assume you are shooting a custom barrel that is well lapped. If you have a factory barrel or one that isn't lapped very well, my guess is cleaning is the least of your worries.

Good idea, Bob. I'll try the Dutch Cleanser...on YOUR rifle...just to make sure it works well. :)

Cleaning is what you do while you drink beer.

Indeed... or something a bit stronger, depending on how hot it was that afternoon.

Just don't grab the bore solvent bottle when you be reachin' for the hooch.

I've gone 270 to 300 rounds before cleaning with no ill effects, actually winning results. Then guilt would make me clean.

BIG +1 on Warren Deans comments! Not only do you NOT have time to clean between relays. If you clean that rifle in the evening and have to shoot the next day. Now you are wasting time re-fouling the barrel to its optimum so you can get an accurate indication of elevation and conditions for your sighters. F-class may not be too bad having to do this. But if you are a sling shooter its PAINFUL ! LOL !!
ps. Warren, use Bon-Ami ....dosent scratch and never will.. ::)

The flip side is you risk it totally letting go in a relay...I've seen this on more than one occasion - whatever anyone does needs to be the same - that way you know what to expect and act accordingly.

Take one gun and get to know it real well is my motto :)

Phil....Thanks for the tip. I'll let you know how it works out. ::)

Our competition format you shoot 4-5 sighters then two back to back rounds of 5 targets for 4 relays total of 40 scored targets approx. 15-20 sighers and usually 10-12 warm up shots before the match starts so say a total of between 65-75 shots a day.
If my gun can't do that before fouling or loosing accuracy I wont keep. options are: new load, new barrel, or whole new gun!
