Are any of you shooting a 20/250 or 20/6mmBR

I chambered a 20/250 with a 26", 1:8, Rock Creek barrel for a customer. He plans to shoot a 57gr custom VLD with a 570 BC bullet with 36. grains IMR 4007. (approx. 3800fps) I was wondering if I built a similar wildcat, doing it in a 20/6mmBR. Are any of you shooting a similar con figuration and what have been your findings.

I had a .20BR with a 12 twist.

It was EVIL with 39gr. B-Kings and Benchmark.

Should have never sold it, check out the article about VolDoc and his quest to 1000 yards with a .20 cal. on Prarie Dogs.

He was shooting either the Berger 50`s or the 55`s, i can`t remember.......

Phil.

I have a 20-250 on pacnor with surgeon action. Shots lights out. 1x9. Twist. I also have a rock 1x8 20 br I built born to shoot 55 gr Bergers. The 1x9 is crazy accurate and consistent. The 1x8 not so with 55 but is with 40 gr vmax over varget. H4350 is what I shoot in 20-250. Both are turn neck chambers.

I have both a 20-250 and 20br each has a 9 twist Pacnor barrel with the 20-250 I can get 3800fps with the 55gr Bergers and IMR4350, but keep it at 3700 using Varget, with the 20br I get 3600 fps using RL15 with the 55gr Bergers.
My 20br is definitely more accurate than my 20-250 but it is also much heavier and a single shot where the 20-250 is a much lighter repeater.
I've taken groundhogs and coyotes with both although many more groundhogs than coyotes, the 55 Bergers worked great for me along with the 55gr Blackhole's, I have some of the 57gr Unmussings (spl) but have not had a chance to try them yet

I built a 5/35 SMC (a somewhat improved version of the 20 BR) a year ago. I was pushing it pretty hard with 39 sierra blitzking and 40 vmax and getting just over 4,000fps out of it. Based on the testing i did you will struggle to get anywhere near 3,800 fps out of the standard 20 BR with a 57 grain bullet. My best estimate would be some where near the 3,500-3,600 range. I hope this information helps.

not experienced with the 20-250 but have a few 20BRs and 20 dashers. In my 9twist 20 dasher I run a 46gr unimussig bullet at 3800. It starts stretching primer pockets if get much hotter that that. I have tested the 50gr bergers but could only reach a hair over 3700fps. From what I ve gathered comparing my velocities to others that Ive seen on here is my bbl is a bit on the slow side. IMHO the 250 case is more than is needed to run the 20s, even the heavy 20s. I'm thinkn the biggest advantage to running the 250 case vs. the br/dasher case is the ability to feed smoothly out of a magazine.

That BC seems high. Even so, it sounds pretty sleek.

Where can we get more info? I would be interested in the bullet if the BC is even in the mid 0.400 range.

I shoot a 20br 1-11t and run the 39g Sierras at 4300, works well on groundhogs.

Nate, Dr. John Stone Celina TN sort of wrote the book on the 20/6BR; his was a
20 on a 6mm Dasher case as I recall. You need to talk to him, he's most congenial and a wealth of information. Also a good friend. Telephone is 931-510-4302
Hope this helps. John Kruzan

Love to hear more about the 57 grn 20 cal bullet. The Berger 55 I shoot in my
20 Dasher goes 3750fps and has a b.c. of .381.I don't doubt that the 57 is better,but .570 seems a bit optimistic.I would love to try some.

Nat, I'm shooting a 20 BRX and cant think of a thing I'd change about it.

I was thinking a .204 X 6XC reamer next but it'll be sometime after April.
