Arbor press--I need recommendations

I have a super zoomy 21st century arbor press and a good ole` Harrells.

Both accomplish the same thing, one just has visual feedback, get whatever the pocketbook allows.

Phil.

The New Gen 21st century press has NO gears and provides a LOT more leverage if you ever want to use Wilson dies to reload large Magnum rounds with tight neck tension for hunting. Most other arbor presses have brass gears that can wear out over time if loading large rounds with heavy neck tension. Any arbor press will work if you only ever want to load 6mm or 22 cal with really light neck tension. But if you want to have an arbor press that has the strength, leverage, and durability to do it all for the rest of your life...Get the New Gen 21st Century.

That's a valid point. On the other side of the coin, the more leverage the more difficult to "feel" the variances in seat pressure when loading for competition.

The feel is still there. Maybe not quite as sensitive, but I can always feel the difference. You can put pressure further down on the lever arm towards the hinging point if you want to feel it even more. No need to use the full leverage if you don't need it.

Gentlemen,

I have a young friend who needs an arbor press. Mine, which has been a good one, is several years old and I don't recall the guy's name who made it. He and his wife had a reloading store in the northwest the best I recall--I bought most of my Wilson dies from them. I heard they closed down and retired.

My question is, whose arbor press can I suggest to my friend? I hope he can get one as good as mine.

Thank you in advance,

Gene Pool

Evening Gene,
That'll be Russ Haydon and his wife, whom I have dealt with extensively before they closed up shop. As another has mentioned, super good people and Russ built some pretty nice rifles as well. And I happen to have one of their Arbor Presses that I used for a year before a friend gave me a new model Sinclair. So Russ's press is sitting in a drawer not being used. I'd be willing to sell it for $60 shipped CONUS. Its in excellent shape and nothing fancy like the Sinclair, 21st Century or the K&M. But it does get the job done. PM me if you have interest.

Alex
