Ar 15 question

Took my wifes ar 15 out yesterday to sight it in. First time out with it. It is a stock F1 bought from a store as new. I noticed abnormalities at case neck from spent brass from it. Looks to me like a chambering issue or head space off. Its chambered in 5.56 × 45. I was useing factory 55g 223 and some handloaded 55gr 223 with same issue. Here is picture of issue. Its the ones on end. Middle was out of another ar. Any ideas? It shot fine, just dont like what i see on brass.20210228_190630.jpg

I got a barrel from WOA that did that to brass, sent it back and got a new one. It was either a chip in the reamer or something reamer related that cut grooves when the chamber was cut.

Looks like a warranty issue to me.

Might be easier than having to argue then hear back stating wont cause any issues. Crappy part is she wanted this one just cause the barrel was stainless. Ill talk to her. Might look at a criterion barrel

Is it American made? Don't roll-over. It's the principle, with me it's the cost too.
Take it back, give them a song-and-dance, you had 3 gunsmiths look at the chamber with a bore-scope, you have 3 written statements from the smith's, stating the chamber could cause a case separation, resulting in the bolt, doing a side-ways dance, into your face. Now if you or someone who shoots it, becomes permanently blinded, their lawyers will be in touch.
Then see how fast the barrel is replaced.
Can you take a pic of the chamber with a bore-scope?
If the people selling this, or making it, want to dance, show them your fancy foot-work.

I do not own a bore scope to take a pic. To me it just looks like a bad chamering job. F1 i think is in texas so i would hope made in USA. Ill try and give them a call this week and see what there process is.

Return it, sell it, get a Criterion or Wilson - you won't regret it. If you don't get an immediate positive response, research the CEO's name and address. Then send him a personal LETTER (not email) outlining what's going on and how you feel about the situation - you'll get a quick response.

I believe Knotwild was referring to Wilson barrels which is different than Wilson Combat. Rock River Arms and White Oak Armament use a lot of Wilson barrels on their rifles. I'm sure others do also. For the price of a F1 rifle I would let them make it right. It would be different if it was a cheap one. Good luck and hope they get the issue resolved quickly for you.

I would highly suggest calling them as well, since some places are having a hard time with email right now, I bet they are pretty busy.

I doubt there will be much trouble getting this taken care of. Sucks it happened though

The pictures you took, should be more than enough evidence, of the damage in the chamber, along with the fired cases as proof. You most likely will not have any problems, getting the replacement.
