AR-10 in 308 sacrilege?

I've been talking to my local gun shop about an AR-10 in 308. I am curious if the Springfield Armory Saint Victor is an accurate rifle at 1000yards? They have others being shipped at a higher prices.

Never really cared about AR's until all the politics. I don't want a junk gun. I want to use an Omeg 300 can with a variable gas block. If I cant shoot at 1000yards like my bolt rifles, I may not bother.
just a reminder
the subject is
308 win, ar10, 1 moa at 1000 yards

Realistically, you'd have to be [very] lucky to get 1 MOA accuracy out of a mid-tier factory AR-10 chambered in .308.

Barrel making today is much better than it was 10 years ago but an AR 15/10 is reasonably complex with a lot of moving parts and you'd need all the important bits to be fitted, shimmed and tight.

JP Rifles, GA Precision and a few others put together custom builds that, in the right hands, can achieve that kind of accuracy with the right ammo, but, in general, expecting that out of a production AR is a setup for disappointment.

All that said, an AR-10 is a great rifle to have around and very capable in a lot of roles at shorter distance.

I love 'em. AR-10s are classic, especially in the Orifginal or Brownells configuration. I always thought back in the 1990s that if a major manufacturer ever brought out the AR-10 at a reasonable price, it would sell like hotcakes. Eagle Arms / Armalite did just that a couple of years later. The 1994 AWB put a ten year delay in the rifle's popularity due to magazine restrictions.

Now, how many companies make an AR-10 rifle?

I hd a DPMS LR-308 back in 2006-2007. It would shoot three rounds into a single hole, then as it heated up, my zero would drift by more than an inch. It was maddening. I found out after I sold it that it needed to have the back end of the barrel squared so that it would seat and stay when it heated up.

Oh, well. Lesson learned.
