So far this video is all I’ve seen. Appears that StaBall is good (for a ball powder) but not what I’d call “temperature insensitive”.I want to see a temperature test.
Compared to a lot of other powders, I suppose you could say this new StaBall 6.5 powder is a success, but when it's compared to Hodgdon Extreme Powders, such as H4350, maybe not so much, but in all fairness, does anything compare, with regard to temp stability, to the Hodgdon Extreme powders, especially H4350?!
I think H4350 and H1000 are, the, best two powders for temp stability out there.
If this new StaBall 6.5 is predictable and consistent as temps go up/down and doesn't have wild swings like some of the other powders out there, and, can produce better velocity, I think it very well could be worth trying.
In ball powder typically a Mag primer would lower spreads.
That very thought dawned on me today!!!! Thank you for shearing!!!
I think you will find the most temp stable powders are Ar Comp, r16, and R23 which are the Alliant TZ series and consistently test about 5 times better than the Extreme powders. The two you mentioned are the best of the Hodgdon powders for temp stability from the tests I've seen.
