Anyone use a Houle tube with knowledge of screw sizes?

Some where between here and there, I lost one of the screws for my Houle tube. I took the remaining one up to the hardware store, but of course its not a common size. (M4 is slightly too big and M3 wont fit.)

Anyone have one of these that knows what size screw it is or that can measure theirs so I can maybe find one online.

Or anyone direct me on how to properly measure this with a caliper or micrometer?

Hi,

The screw you need is a 6/40 x 1/2" socket head cap screw. Some hardware stores might have them in the 'gun screws' cabinet, otherwise maybe fastenal. Or, my favorite McMaster-Carr...

The washer you need under the head is another story -these are a close fit, but might need sanding down on the OD.

6-40 is a common scope mounting thread, Brownells has them.

The locaL ACE Hardware in Tomball has them in their “gunsmith screw” section. You might try your local Ace.

Our local Ace has a great fastener section and has the 6-40 screws, but they don't have a separate "gunsmith screw" section.

Unfortunately we don’t have a local Ace hardware store anymore.

Our Ace Hardware Stores have the gunsmith screws in a small compartmentalized box sitting on top of the regular fastener cabinets. I overlooked them several times before locating them.
