Anyone shooting an AR in .20 practical?

I have info for the bolt version but looking for some starting to proven loads for the .20 Practical in an AR platform, 1-10 twist. Plan on using 844 pulldown or VV135. I bought a box each of 39 sierras, 40 hornadys and 40 Bergers for testing. Neck sizing to .225. TIA for any info, HOG

I've got an AR in .20 Practical with an 11 twist. I decided on the 32 gr BK for the higher speed although I'm keeping them at about 3,850. I use 24.6 gr of VV N133.

Favorite load for me is 24 gr of N133, with Sierra 32 gr BlitzKings, BR-4 Primers and Remington brand 223 Rem brass necked down to 20 cal. with the bullets around 2.245" OAL (which is about .010" off the lands with my chamber). I use this for test firing customer uppers and that load has yielded so many itty bitty groups with a broad variety of customer uppers it's just hard to ignore it. You can probably go a little hotter with it but I like loads that are easy to do and that shoot well in all weather conditions and temperatures so I have stayed with what I posted and the great accurate groups keep coming.

A 5 shot group out of my AR Practical using 35gr Bergers. Probably couldn't do it again! The grid is 1/4" and the range was 100 yds.

Itchy, That is some great shooting! What brass and final neck bushing are you using.
I'm "itchy" to get mine going, just waiting for a neck only sizing die.

Hog,

I use LC (mostly 02) brass and since I don't turn it I need to use the expander button (carbide). The neck OD on loaded cases measures in the range of .226 - .228. I use a .224 neck bushing.

Maybe I should turn them to make them more consistent!

WC844 and a 39-40g bullets start at 24.5g-25g powder. My lot of 844 has been a little 'slower' than H335. Add maybe .4g for a coated bullet. All 3 of the 20 Prac barrels familiar to me like a jump of about 20-25 thou.

For a reference I use 26.0-26.2 with an uncoated 34g VNE/Dogtown jumped .025" and its 3875-3900 FPS at 600ft elevation and a moderate, reasonable pressure load.
